They call the 8HP45 the 845RE for some reason as well, especially when their own transmission history is pretty poor, you'd think they'd want to advertise that it's a ZF sourced trans.

IIRC, the first ones were from ZF, but Chrysler is already, or will soon be building them in Kokomo for Chrysler vehicles.
ZF is also building a plant in the US to supply the 8 speed transmissions to other companies. This plant will also build Chrysler's 9 speed, I believe.
It's a bit confusing as to who is building what for whom.
