Looking for new point and shoot camera

Hi

im looking for some recommendations on a point and shoot camera

it needs to be snappy when taking pictures,decent zoom,good in low light and in doors... for a sporting event like a wrestling event..and for my girlfriend she wants it to have wifi and be able to upload to social media accounts from the camera

megapixels whatever you think is best considering everything else

size would prefer nothing to bulky but doesnt have to be super tiny

we would like to spend up to $350 lower is always better but that is our max

any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Not many cameras have wifi... You're going to give up all the features that matter in order to get that.

A lot of the Samsung point and shoot cameras have WiFi. I'd look at those

why the lx3? its pretty old

i have the lx7, which i love...but no wifi, and its a bit bulky for most people who think of a point and shoot. id suggest it if wifi wasnt an issue, its not for me. if i hadnt seen it on sale i was going to get the s110.

op, check out the canon s110. tiny & very pocketable, great reviews, wifi. 379 on amazon...yeah, over the max, but considering what you get, i think its worth it.

i want to modify what i had originally asked for

looking at cameras in that price range and what some have suggested i think theres features in many we wont use we dont need anything too "professional"

i want something thats good quality and meets what i say but i think that will come at a cheaper price now looking at stuff like maybe 250?

also im open to non wifi suggestions at this point i just want something thats great for the price and is easy to use as well without features that the average person wouldnt use

also would like it too be good at hd video

I think the canon s100 is going to be your best bet. it's one generation older so it will be less expensive and the s110 doesn't add much over it, well I think it has wifi so you might check out the s110 too. I think the bottom line is that not many point and shoots below 250 offer much in terms of performance over a solid phone camera these days. Cams like the s100 and lx7 are some of the cameras that are "worth it" over a phone camera because they have slightly larger sensors and/or excellent lenses attached.

any opinion on the samsung ex2f?

and forgive me for me not so knowledgeable in this area but when a camera has a pop up flash like the same samsung does that is the camera main flash right?.. so will it pop when its needed? and do they usually automatically go back down?

Almost no popup flashes automatically retract, you will have to push it down. It should be noted if you disable the flash in your settings then it wont actually fire even if it is up.

what do you think of the new Sony DSC-WX80 based on specs

obivously its not in the same class as some of these others but if i can spend less im more then fine with that lol i just want something thats better then a smartphone overall when it comes to vids and pictures

That camera seems to be a good bit more than $250. If you are comfortable with that price range, check out the Canon S110, which is currently about $20 cheaper on Amazon.

For $250, it looks like you can get the somewhat older but capable Canon S100.

Honestly, I think you are going to find it challenging to find something with enough zoom to be useful at a wrestling match (I am assuming that you'll be some distance back) that also has decent low-light image quality. Good low-light image quality is a combination of sensor size (larger is better) and quality and lens "speed." There are a growing number of enthusiast compact cameras with larger sensors. The Canon s100/110, which helped to define the category, is now at the low-end of the range, price-wise. Further, most of the enthusiast compact cameras don't have a very long zoom, and all of them, including the Canon, let in much less light when they are zoomed out, which hurts low-light image quality.

My suggestion is to give up on the zoom. Go for image quality. Get the S100, it will come with features you may not need, but there is really no way to get similar image quality for less. If WiFi is desirable, get on of the EyeFi or Toshiba WiFi memory cards that lets you transfer photos directly to your mobile phone for posting to Facebook, etc.

If you think the zoom is key, let us know how far you think you are going to be from what you are photographing, and how close-up you want your photos to be (face, body, etc).

ok so i got the ex2f i like the response time of the camera and the quality and features

but i dont know if im going to be happy with the zoom when it comes to live events

at this point i might want to return it and looking for something that has the good zoom and good low light and good quality otherwise...forget all the wifi features there not needed

price should be around 300-370

i know there were other recommendations but i thought i would start fresh since my criteria has changed slightly

Take a look at the Nikon P7700. It's just under $400 at online retailers.
