Roku vs bd player with wifi

If you have a player with built in wifi is there any point in getting a Roku?
My sister wants a Roku for her bday but she doesnt have a blu ray yet so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. She's not very technically savvy, if that matters.
I think all she'd use it for is streaming amazon/netflix.

It's more convenient to have it all in one package but the Netflix on Roku is worlds better with a better interface and more options to watch stuff as well (Hulu, Amazon, etc).

I have both (Sony BR w/ Apps + a Roku). The Bluray is convenient because you get disc playback AND apps, plus Youtube (the Roku doesn't have Youtube). However, the Roku has a nicer GUI. The Roku has a simple remote and an easy-to-use interface. The Bluray system has five million buttons on the remote and a more difficult interface, but you get Bluray playback and the Youtube app. Both cost about the same (~$99 depending on the model you go with).

If it's mostly Amazon and Netflix, I'd go with the Roku. Have my whole family on them. Super easy to use!

roku simply kicks butt. it is another device to your system, but its so simple and it doesnt even have an on/off switch... so the only thing you do is change your tv video input, big deal.
