President Obama's deeds and actions as President have, uniformly, favored gun rights over gun restrictions. His words are, in my view, fairly meaningless when he can be gauged by his actions. I am nothing if not a pragmatist.

By way of illustration, President Bush always said (to curry favor with his base) that he felt it was a high priority that we amend the Constitution to eliminate even the possibility of gay marriage, but never actually did anything about it (because, I can only conclude, he didn't really care). President Obama is in much the same position on guns, and I say that with confidence because we have four years of his Presidency on which to gauge his priorities.

I know you hate the President, but his stance on gun rights is not a legitimate reason to do so (unless you're a liberal Democrat).

Deflect, deflect, deflect. Bu, bu, but BOOSH!

Have you listened to this president? Do you know his record from IL? Have you SEEN the murder rates in chicago by his sons? Really?

The reason his actions have been stopped is because of the house. Thank God.

You're not paying attention.

From this pro-gun piece cited earlier in this thread - http://kontradictions.wordpress.com/...-ill-tell-you/ -

Quote:
It is a running joke in gun-interest circles that Obama is the “gun salesman of the year”. From the moment he won the Democratic nomination, gun sales in the US surged dramatically. If the joke were more honest, he might be called “gun salesman of the decade”. According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the economic impact of the firearm industry grew more than 50% (from $19 billion to $31 billion) between 2008 and 2011. In 2010, a record was set for the number of background checks filed for firearm purchases. That record was broken again in 2011.

All of this was largely the result of a campaign by gun rights advocates like the NRA to convince the country that Obama would be a gun control activist. To be sure, their concerns weren’t entirely baseless. In a 2004 NPR interview, then-senator Obama clearly stated that he not only supported the Federal Assault Weapons ban, but that he would “continue to support a ban on concealed carry laws” altogether. The administration reaffirmed its support of the assault weapons ban in 2009.

But, lacking political capital, Obama made no such push for gun control legislation. In fact, quite the opposite. During his first term he signed laws making it legal for people to carry concealed weapons in National Parks and in their checked luggage on Amtrak trains, provided they met their state’s requirements to do so. As a result, the Brady Campaign, the leading gun control lobbying group, gave Obama an “F” rating. When the administration was asked about how it would respond to the Aurora shooting, the first words out of spokesman Jay Carney’s mouth were, “We plan to uphold the second amendment.” When the Sikh shooting happened, his press conference informed people that the President “will continue to instruct his administration to take action towards common-sense measures that protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens but make it harder and harder for those who should not have weapons under existing law to obtain them”.

Despite this conspicuously moderate viewpoint, the NRA continues to stoke the flames of fear, promising that once Obama is reelected to a second term, he’ll have no reason to hold back on the gun control legislation he’s been wanting to implement since 2004. In fact, at a recent CPAC conference in Florida, NRA vice president Wayne LaPierre went so far as to suggest, without offering any evidence, that Obama’s failure to act on gun control has been a “massive Obama conspiracy” to postpone his attack on the second amendment until his second term. While I appreciate the NRA’s vigilance on an issue I feel strongly about, I can’t help but think that it is rants like this that make much of the populace totally unable to identify with the organization.
You're just trying to justify your own gullibility because you bought the NRA's snake oil. The idea that the President is inclined to push some radical anti-gun agenda, despite doing no such thing for four years, is laughable. Honestly, while I think a new AWB would be a waste of time, I can't say it would bother me the way it would obviously bother you, but regardless I don't see it happening.

Curiously, despite your obsessiveness about some aspects of politics, you are clearly not a student of politics. You're the one who isn't paying attention, I guess because you're letting your emotions overtake your rationality. The numerous edits you've made to your post since I quoted it (particularly your reference to murders by the President's "sons") just demonstrate that your passion against him has much more to do with the color of his skin than anything real.

As I said, talk is cheap. I gauge politicians by their actions.

Despite your passion for politics you seem to have a child's grasp of it.

Yeah that same guy you said was toast in 2012, yet he won easily. Surely you, or at least your bank account, have noticed how poor you are at predicting political events. Has this led you to examine why you're so often wrong about things you feel so strongly about?

Whatever you have going on has led you to a life of racist, paranoid fantasy. It's not healthy, but there's a silver lining! All those things about Obama you're so afraid of aren't true, so in many ways you're already getting what you want, at least policy wise. If you can get over that he's black you might find that you don't mind him so much after all.

Just to give you an idea of how much is flying off the shelves...Brunells sells 3 years worth of magazines in 3 days.

"To shed some more light on the magazine situation at present, it really has been unprecedented in the last 5 days. During a roughly 72 hour period...we sold the 'average demand' equivalent of about 3.5 years worth of PMAGS, and an even greater amount of our Brownells magazines."

We know all this.

As I stated before... a fool and his money.

Also, your digression really misses the topic of the thread.

Shame on President Obama for seeking more gun control and for trying to prevent the parents of other school children from doing what he has clearly done for his own. His children sit under the protection guns afford, while the children of regular Americans are sacrificed.
Well well.... we have the ruling class, who get men with guns, while us plebs must be disarmed.

You mean like when the NRA quotes Obama? At least we agree no one should believe anything Obama says.
