XFX 750 semi modular any good?
XFX Pro 750 watt 80 plus silver semi modular.
it's $89.99 don't forget I am in Canada. $79 with rebate but I don't do that junk.
Do you think this is a good power supply? I have not seen any deals on power supply.
it has a 5 year warranty, 80 plus, and semi modular.
apparently it is a Seasonic inside.

It would be around $105 after taxes and shipping.
Is that a good price? It's $35 off.
Like I said I haven't seen anything much cheaper.

I'd go for it if I needed 750 watts. But do you, really? What components are you putting in?

remember I got 3570k and eventually 7950 when sale is good. I know I don't need 750, but I consider this one because.
- reviews on normal XFX 650 and 750 say the cables are really long. If you don't use all cables it will be a mess. This power supply is semi modular.
- price difference between 650 watt and 750 watt semi modular is only $20. I don't count the rebate junk.
what do you think?
unless you can find me a cheaper one lehtv.

Hold on... if you know you don't need 750W, why are you considering it in the first place? There's an XFX 550W available for just $50, it's more than enough power for a 3570K and a single 7950. Most of the cables will be in use so the lack of modularity doesn't really matter.

well I was considering just because of the price difference.
I thought you wanted 600 watt for at least 7950 + 3570k + ssd + hd. I was considering 7970 at one point too because I saw that cheap msi reference card.

550w is plenty unless crossfire is in your future. Even then, 650w would cover it

Is the 550w still Seasonic?
I am not sure if I should get the 550w or the one in my title. They have 5 year warranty. So I will have it for a long time.

Yes it is Seasonic and its also a good power supply. It's not as good as the XFX Pro 750w, but honestly you won't see a difference as both are solid. 80+ Bronze vs 80+ Silver makes very little difference as well. I personally think buying anything over 80+ Bronze at non sale pricing is not worth the added cost.
Jonny Guru gave the 550w Core a 9/10 rating.

there is also an Antec on sale modular.
http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=67...c&promoid=1033
It's 620 watt. $20 cheaper than the XFX 750 and $20 more than XFX 550.
what is your opinion? Still go with XFX 550?

Antec HCG-620M is a rebranded Seasonic M12II-620
Excellent CPU (EDIT: Meant PSU) as well, like the majority of seasonics.
Just throwing it out there, but on a budget, the OCZ ZT Series (550w, 650w, 750w) are very reasonable and are built on a very solid platform. (Specifically the ZT series, as OCZ also has a lot of not-so-good PSU's) I'm using one right now after years of Seasonics and it works great. Its tested very well and can do its full 550w (45a) on the 12v rail.
EDIT: It seems the prices have gone up on the OCZ's. I paid $40 for mine AR.

Yes. The Antec 620W is 40% more expensive for 10% more +12V amps. For a unit at this wattage level, I don't think semi-modularity makes up for that discrepancy especially when you consider you don't need more watts.

That XFX 550W is a no brainer. $50/$40 AR is a killer deal!
...btw, haven't yet had the chance to call the Post Office.

ok I am gonna go ahead and order the 550 watt XFX.
Will the rebate void the warranty? It's only $10 off and I am not sure it's worth it.

Huh? No, rebates don't void warranty.
You just fill it out and send it, then your should receive your money in a few weeks or up to a month or two, it depends. You don't trade anything for it, it's just a way for manufacturers to make their product more competitively priced without penalizing the distributor or retailer.

Other units will have tax and need shipping too so that's still the best priced unit.
