$150 to go from 3.2GHz to 3.6GHz if you are lucky is not worth it. I would stick with your Q6600

dont blow that cash on a cpu which might give you a 10% increase; you got nearly enough for a 3750k.
but then you need a new board and ram

so its not nearly the same price

not saying I wouldnt go that route anyways

but I also need to sell a q9550 soon so I should encourage this....

OP already went with a 2600K.

I do agree that Q6600 to 9650 is sort of useless if gaming is the main focus. Not that big a leap.

However S775 anything to 2600K is monumental. At least a doubling in virtually everything, and sometimes more.

I was surprised that the i7 2600k blows away the new 8 core AMD FX-8350.

Congrats on the purchase, I'm sure it'll last you a long time.

Didn't buy it yet, still debating on that or a Xeon E3-1230 V3. LOL

pfft..3.6?
http://valid.canardpc.com/ki8uzx
That's what i'm running as a daily driver
That being said..not much more performance difference between Yorkfield and Kentsfield.
There is some..Yorkfield clocks higher because it's a double-Wolfdale.

For $150 you should be able to come up with a Lynnfield + p55 mobo..
ooo..but then you might need some RAM
You might can still find some decent RAM for about $30.
Lynnfield OC'd IS a large improvement.
Most likely I'll be making that switch to Lynnfield today. woohoo!
PS: I have a p7p55d-pro for $80 on [h] and ocn.
