Gimp Magazine
Figured I put this here instead of *nix to get more eyes. I haven't read through it yet, but this looks like a nice magazine that features art and tutorials that utilize Gimp. Might be a good starting point for someone confused by the multitude of buttons and settings. Free download, and issue 1 is available elsewhere on the site...
