teh Iphone did "borrow" things from many other where Iphone (hell apple itself because its the same withe the IPod) is they were the first to get everything together and right. They also knew how to market it it.
Apple is a master of perfecting items. From the mp3 player to phone. while we would still have both they would be diffrent if not for Apple.
but in now way did they invent or start MP3 players or Smartphones. they did make them far far better then anyone else at the time.
edit: other company's are finally catching up. wich is why they are now suing everyone they can because they know they are losing market dominance. part of how they act is why i won't buy another apple product even (have 2 ipod's)
