I'm far more in favor of manufacturer based extended warranties instead of some kind of third party. However, in any event, always, always, ALWAYS read the fine print. Then read it again. Read it a third time just for good measure, and don't be afraid to read it a fourth, fifth, or more times. Make sure you understand just what the plan DOES NOT cover, if there are any restrictions on it (most third party warranty systems are closer to insurance policies than warranties) like a maximum amount they'll pay for parts or maximum number of claims you can make. Things that are very important to know, but for obvious reasons these companies are keen to bury somewhere that most people will never bother to read until it's too late.
