At what temperature do they turn in to hockey pucks?

My old summer tires were trash below 45F. These are still fine at 35F, but I am curious about their lower limits.

I put them on my wife's car (2011 Mustang GT), and it's fine in cold weather. Obviously not as good as in hot weather, but completely drivable.

Only had that happen when on snow, they certainly get harder but seem to warm up ok after driving a bit. Never felt they were dangerous at lower temps, course my car rarely stresses them.

Around 45F in my experience. They aren't scary by any means, but I can tell. Your car has too much power even with perfect conditions so it will mostly affect high speed cornering.

Just put a pair on the back of my '12 GT500. From what I've seen on the shelby forums, people like these better than the Goodyears.

They're great tires, and the best all-around sports tire you can buy. Of course you couldn't run them in the snow, and I haven't driven them in the rain, but I've pushed them hard down to 20f dry with no issues once they're warmed up.

FWIW they're also not terrible even when the tire is cold. I used to have major issues with my continentals until had 5-6 miles but these are fine out of the driveway.

This is totally irrelevant but the Michelin Pilot Powers I had on my Hayabusa were deadly when the pavement was cold, like they were made out of glass. It probably wasn't much help that 160+ RWHP was going through 1 200mm contact patch.

we are at a high of 40F today and I just took the kids to school with no problem on the PSS. I have my X-Ice 2 ready to go as soon as I get a few minutes.

Well, these seem about 10-15F more tolerant than the F1 supercars after this morning. That's probably enough to get me through winter if I'm too lazy to put on a winter set.

I have the luxury of being able to stay home during the 1 or 2 days of snow or ice that we may get, and it doesn't really get very cold very often here.

FWIW all supersport motorcycles are like this, in my experience. michelin, pirelli, all of them need warmed up unless they're touring/commuting tires.

I really wish they would make these in a size useful to me. They make PS2's in sizes appropriate for both cars but no PSS at all.

Driving on hockey pucks is less than fun. I made a thread about this last week i think, driving on the very tires you got rid of in the snow. It was the first time I thought I might not make it home without causing an accident.

I have PSS on my SLK350 and i've gone out on the backroads in 30ish F without issues. They do slide a bit at that temp fresh out of the garage, but are fine once they warm up a little.

I gave them a good bit of throttle in first tonight (28F). The TC kept it under control. They hooked up better than I expected in the temps which is to say, not well, but certainly not dangerously incapable (not bad for 15 PSI boost and a 32F IAT anyway). I also tested out lateral grip somewhat. I don't really have any concerns with these tires for the kind of winters we have here at this point, as long as I stay off the road if its wet *and* cold.
