That was in grad school, I was in AI group, machine learning / statistics stuff. Neither of the two jobs I had since graduating were directly related to that.

My job before I retired from a forge. We heated up steel to just before it melted and squished it into shapes.

They're also very interested in technology and networking.

Mine is actually 2 user names rolled into one.
When I first started posting here, back when the internet was new and shiny, and Anand first set up the board, I was SMOG. I got that name in college. I use to sit outside the computer lab in this little nook formed by the building and smoke and write code on the ground with chalk. Because of the way the nook was positioned it would fill with smoke. So all the freshmen would walk by and see me sitting on the ground surrounded by smoke and furiously scratching symbols on the ground. One day this chick came up and asked me if I had a light and her friend said 'Don't talk to him, that's the smog guy.' My old username had become a little too infamous, so it was time for a change, and I liked being the smog guy, (plus the chick was cute and started hanging out with me) so I changed everything to that.
After a while I lost the password the the smog account here, and no longer had access to the student email address that I had originally set it up under so I started to use Zinn. Zinn was the name of a favorite D&D character. I lost the password to that account as well, so just combined them as smogzinn. I've been using that since 2005, so I guess it stuck.

Apart of the same SUPER family.
That does not make it the same family. Genetics actually place it as an entirely distinct group, but one that shares a lot in common (though almost certainly developed separately) with other families in that super family.
Also - that super family is in the same suborder as the bear family, canine family, etc.
To be clear - it's not in the same family as raccoons and weasels (which themselves aren't even in the same family - two distinct families ). It's in the same superfamily. In that super family, there is also the family that contains weasels, otters, and badgers (yes, otters ), and the family that contains raccoons and ringtails, and a third family yet that contains the skunks.
It's just as related to the otters as it is the skunk.
It's closer to all those than true bears, but rather distinctive in its own right - enough, genetically, to not place it in a family with any of the above, but rather, in the same group as those families due to shared characteristics.
yes - wiki is my sole source. I don't care.

First name starts with N.
7/7 is my birthday and my favorite number.
Mass Effect stole my name years later, which is irritating.

It was easy to remember as it is my name. I have been online sine the days of 300 baud modems and I always use some variation of my real name.
