Plenty of Vishera (AM3+ Piledriver) threads in the CPU forum
So, who's considering getting one? AVX, FMA, XOP, etc. Looks nice to me, from some prelims, but of course, power-consumption isn't as good as Intel. Which for DC ends up being important for some.

I'm gonna get one for my secondary rig. The PhII 980 that is there right now is such a lousy overclocker that it's no fun at all.

i might consider the FX-8350, just for the 8 cores if nothing else...of course that depends on whether or not any of my mobo's can be updated to AM3+ via a BIOS flash.

Fingers crossed I it gets support soon. I have multiple of these boards in service and would like to put a CPU with low idle usage and more threads in my HTPC for the re-encoding it does sometimes and the idling it almost always does.

I got an FX-8320. Unfortunately, I only got it to 4.0GHz due to the much higher cooling and VRM needs than the ASROCK 990FX Extreme3 and Cooler Master V6 GT can handle. I will see if the H100 I ordered will help. Anywho here are some rough WCG Times. GFAM is getting 3.22-3.48 hours. 92.4 credits for the 3.22 hour WU and 100.1 for the 3.48 hour WU.
What stat website should I use to share my data on per WU times? I'm not running all 8 cores for WCG since I have some GPU tasks going as well so I didn't want to give my RAC

If you have the Vishera and are running WCG on it, Drug Search for Leishmaniasis performs well on these processors. Here is a rough spreadsheet with my findings: World Community Grid Comparison

Researching some overall options but probably will pull the trigger on the FX-8350, new motherboard, and RAM. Adding up to see how much the difference is between an I5 and I7 build. Along with trying to prioritize which projects I would care more about in the AMD/ATI vs Intel/nvidia scenarios.

Careful which motherboard you go with if you want to overclock the 8350. Most can not handle the power requirements when you get over 4.5 GHz. It might be better to go with Intel for this reason since AMD's old motherboard advantage does not apply for the FX-8350
edit: and some are even worse. With an ASRock 900fx Extreme3 I can not take my 8320 past 4 GHz without VRM related throttling and it struggles to boot at 4 GHz. Might swap CPUs with the ASUS M4A89GTD Pro USB3 that has a 1045t

and if you do stick w/ AMD, you can save ~$30 by going w/ the FX-8320 which, although has a lower base clock than its big brother the FX-8350, OC's just as well.
