It's just "life" if you're into tech. It's going to happen and happen soon. I don't have the money to chase after the "latest and greatest" in each of my "hobby" categories. I have to go rotate between getting the "best value" at a given time when I can make the investment and then be happy. I then treat my items with care and hope they last a while until rotated out. I am very satisfied with my GNex that I bought for $300 or so. I've gotten a few OS updates. At this time I see zero need to upgrade.

I see so many people well on their way to bankruptcy chasing after a silly consumer treadmill of 'latest and greatest'. Ironically, many are people that will wind up with a mountain of debt, surrounded by the farthest thing from 'latest and greatest' which is just a pile of ancient crap that's all they have left, with no resources left for anything new.

So no, I don't care about some device I own being surpassed because that's always going to happen and is stupid-expensive to try and keep ahead of forever. I'd rather technology move at a rapid pace and stay interesting, than move at a snail's pace just to placate some silly jealousy people may have of others' newer/faster/better stuff. (In other words, the tech world shouldn't be doomed to move only at Apple's pace! )

I am still disappointed with the performance on offer with mobiles. I am trying to write a particularly heavy CPU problem for a mobile phone and none of them are really up to the task.

I still feel most of the GUI isn't fluidly moving. So I think the need for faster hardware is very much still there. Saying that I have so far been upgrading every 12-24 months. Once my phone stops getting updates from Google I have moved to the next one.
