Buffalo 1TB portable USB 2.0 drive - $59 shipped
Rakuten (used to be Buy.com): USB 2.0 1TB portable drive
http://www.rakuten.com/prod/buffalo-...230999590.html (make sure to choose the slowest shipping method at checkout for free shipping)
via Slickdeals
These little drives are really handy for doing image backups (boot drive clones) of computers...in place of Norton Ghost, I use the free editions of Macrium Reflect on Windows and SuperDuper on Macs.

Nice, the 1 TB mini drives usually go for $90 and up.
These USB-powered drives are great for backups, no need to connect a wall-wart. I have a 120 GB WD 2.5"that works great, but that's not enough space for a full backup.

Yeah, and they're actually making them in 2TB sizes now...albeit in 15mm thickness, so you can't shell them and slap them in a laptop. Only $149 tho!

Albeit notice this drive has no USB 3.0, only USB 2.0 so it will crawl...

Good point, updated the OP. USB 3.0 is so nice on machines that have the ports...

If you missed the $59 deal, for $10 more, they have a USB 3.0 1TB Toshiba portable drive.

If this drive comes back in stock, I might consider it. In fact, I could see getting several of them for a marketing promotion we're thinking about. But I'm wondering about the drive's track record. Is Buffalo the manufacturer of the actual drive, or does anyone know who is? And is Buffalo reliable?

I wish that their linkstation pros would go on sale. They seem to be the only decent NAS drive in the sub $300 category (drive included).
