No, there is a difference between the compression of the dynamic range (what studios do) and lossy digital compression of data/datarate -- they are not the same thing at all. Low bitrate digital compression frequently produces a sound that makes it seem as though the music is being played inside a tiled bathroom -- a kind of swishing sound that is terrible.

Surprisingly, many don't seem to notice. You do not have to be an Audiophile quack with $80K power cables to hear the difference but I guess some have no sense as to what it should sound like.

Given that we have confirmation of a bootloader unlock/root package already, I suspect a SD slot would have been mentioned already.

As for the battery, I wonder how much of it is based on Sense gimping multitasking again.

It does not have a uSD slot, that is official. HTC claims its because US users have LTE access to "the cloud" through Verizon 4G and wifi all over and they took it out to make the phone thinner.

But we all know it's BS, its Verizon and HTCs partnership and a ploy to generate more data revenue by shoehorning people to use data with no SD and intentionally limited internal storage.

Based on the same gear as the Butterfly though, I wonder if uSD can be modded back on. I'd totally mod a SD slot and bigger battery with a thicker aftermarket back. Throw a 4000 mAh battery on it, call it a day, don't care about this thin trendy style fad.

In truth, I kind of like the name J Butterfly better...

I'd go with a bigger battery as well but 3000mAHr would be my target -- I to have no fixation on thinness and would gladly trade a mm or two thicker phone for one that can handle a full day of heavy use or three days of light use.

I think the bigger issue with only 16GBs is games. Almost all the 3d games released take up 1-2GBs on their own. At least with a sd card slot there are ways to offload some of that data to it. If they want to do internal storage only it should be at least 32GB.

No. I use 50GB Bluray on a 100"+ screen. I don't walk around pretending my cute little phone is a home theater or a $10,000 professional camera recording 29 hours of uncompressed HD video like everyone else apparently does.

One hour of HD video is pretty much 8GB or more. So, with 16GB of storage you'd have a max of two hours and likely a bunch less than that if you have any apps or other data.

But you're free to not use the capabilities of the devise if that's what floats your boat. The cameras in modern smart phones are not going to compare to high end DLSR's or pro video gear but are much better than high end SLR's and pro video of a decade ago and decent work has been done using nothing more than a smart phone...

You guys are trying so hard. The use cases you describe would leave me uncomfortable with 64GB, so complaining about 16GB is moot.

I've never seen anybody filming anything for two hours straight using their phones. Most capture short clips here and there to share on youtube in the heat of the moment. Maybe a 5 minute bus fight or a ricer or something. Anything that is important enough to film for 2 hours deserves a real camera.

I just see these things as convenience features, I've never taken them seriously or considered them replacements for dedicated devices.

As for games Ill take Radiant Historia and Kingdom Hearts on my DS over Angry Birds, Tetris, Punch the Monkey, and annoying touch screen shooters full of ads and terrible controls. Gaming on touch screen mobile is hilarious, and caters to the casual mainstream masses as well so its not my thing at all either.

No, the argument is people that need more than 12gigs of storage for music are people that can't prioritize what they'll need and instead just want to take everything and anything with them just in case! They have a mental disorder related to hoarders and need to seek help.
