They got almost $70,000 from kickstarter to make a Win8 version of VLC. People can still donate and it could go higher.

GPL violation (the 5 device limit IIRC)
But if I had bother to check its not a problem with the Win8 store.

Yeah, I doubt Apple and MS have the same bar for apps to be passed

Actually the two are pretty similar. Both are scared to death of getting sued by some other company.

VLC is the player i use on desktop. Would prefer this on ipad though, doubt i'll ever get into W8's mobile arena.
