Default [Dead] sandisk 256gb ssd 139.99 buy.com

http://www.buy.com/sr/searchresults....=sandisk+256gb

try this link

http://www.buy.com/prod/sandisk-256g...240501577.html

it is 139.99 which is a good price. if you link from discover card 5% off from discover card makes it 133 net.

if you get the rakuten points from buy.com 1 % to spend on the buy.com site at a later date. so under 132 shipped. remember buy.com has a more complex ordering system so be careful when you push your order buttons.

Some times the shipping default is ups 3day not ups ground and 5 bucks can get tagged on so look for it. I will check if amazon has this.

No, but it obviously isn't that great based on the published IOPS numbers. While a top notch drive like the Samsung 840 Pro is advertised with 90K IOPS writes, this one is a mere 2.2K. FWIW even the Crucial V4 (not M4, which is up to 50K) has a 4K published IOPS for writes.

I've heard over at slickdeals that this drive uses a Marvell controller, not a sandforce.

Just so any prospective buyers thinking it's the Extreme, it looks like the Extreme but it is not.

The SanDisk Ultra Plus uses a cut down Marvell controller with 4 channels versus the usual 8. Reads are fine, but writes suffer a bit.

I don't know what controller this one uses but it isn't the same one because AFAIK Sandisk specifies the Ultra Plus to have something like 39K IOPS for writes, versus 2.2K.

The Sandisk Extreme is the fast version. This is the plain Jane version.

Fixed.

There are a number of these SSDs out there these days that have similar names/models as more well-known units, but which are a lot inferior. For instance Kingston V+200 is yet another cheap Sandforce 2281 based drive, but the V200 is a horrid Jmicron based drive. Also, the Crucial V4 is a terrible performer but Crucial M4 is great.

hahaha I didnt want to say slow because with SSDs, slow is relative, especially considering the price. But the Extreme is faster, so its OK to call it fast.

Considering how terrible the IOPS are for Random Write (2200 IOPS), how will it perform in real world testing? Still better than a spinning HDD, right?
