Hotmail account hacked

Hi,
A friend of mine says his hotmail account has been hacked and is being used by another person. He is not good with computers and has asked me for help. I haven't been round to see his laptop yet, but I asked him if he's done the security questions and he says he has and that it's been no use. He's contacted hotmail but they aren't helping him. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can help him get his account back?

Hotmail IP logs all connections. Tell them they either assist or face a lawsuit. If your friend suffers any financial consequence he better lawyer up fast.

I am a bit surprised the security question didn't help. Did the hacker guess it ?

Happened to me several months ago, apparently someone guessed my password or brute forced it. Most likely my fault for having a relatively simple password at the time.

I logged into Hotmail and it told me my account was frozen due to sending spam mail, which I suppose was the reason for getting into my account in the first place.

It had me enter a phone number for verification and a code I had to enter, after that I could change my password and now it's much stronger with some numbers+characters at the end.

I recently helped someone changed their hotmail password after it was hacked and sending spam. Luckily the a/c wasn't yet locked or the password changed. I think it could have been a phishing scam or some browser script weakness which caused his password to be revealed to the hacker.

I have the same problem. my hotmail account is blocked. when i login into my hotmail it says 'it looks like someone else might be using your account'. i changed my password but i am getting the same message. i also filled the questionaire and got a reply that i cannot verify my account since the details i filled are incorrect. i filled all the right details. i need my emails back, help !!!
