Yeah, that will happen for high level items, but lower level items tend to be more reasonable in their pricing. You aren't going to find much that sells for more than 1 or 2 million, since people only use it for a few levels before they buy something better.

For the lower level items, I usually don't know what the value is to different chars (and different char levels) so without a buyout sometimes you can squeeze extra gold out of people competing for it.

I always put a buyout on high value items though to avoid losing too much gold.

That or because, like me, don't see D3 as an Auction sim but more like an ARPG

Yeah, spike traps for me are about 1m per crit. My DH friend is about 1.5m per.

I can hit a lot of targets at once though.

The HotA can hit multiple targets, but the area is rather small. Like if they are all stacked, you hit them all. Usually you use the Smash rune that lowers the AoE effect but gives you more damage.

Just did some shopping at the AH...result = LOL!
Started my session 2 hours ago at level 52 with a low 4k DPS and around 12k HP.
After buying for 1.2M of stuff, 6 items, i'm now sitting at 19.3k DPS and 26k HP...

Starting Hell on MP10 later tonight after a quick break.

i typically don't have problems with spirit, though i'll have problems if i try to keep mantra up while spamming cyclone.
That's exactly what I used to do: spam overawe and get the guiding light bonus from breath of heaven whenever a barb would WW over me, or someone was near. The problem was being consistent with getting guiding light as often as possible; especially with people that don't exactly know your play pattern or want to conform to it and just go about doing their own thing.

I'm constantly pushing the limits of my spirit generation; it's part of what keeps me so fixated on playing my monk.

It doesn't take much to easily boost yourself up in DPS and survivability. Welcome to the real game (the one that includes using the community). ^^

It is much more reliable to farm lower level items than higher. I've sold a good bunch of level 16 weapons, rings, amulets, and legendaries with sockets and decent stats for well over 1m each. It's just a matter of someone being out there looking for that item to be awesome to them; much the same as it is for level 60, but to a greater degree, since everyone that's 60 is likely looking for higher upgrades that are exponentially more expensive.

I actually sold some level 8ish? legendary pants (I can't remember what they're called) for about 6m. They were as good as it got for rolls and nothing was even close to them on the AH. They sold almost instantly.

Neat, sold another ring for $2.50 and have a bid on my Blackthorne amulet on RMAH. I had actually expected it to be pretty dead but since starting to use it again I've already moved a few items, at more than (or about equal to) how much I would get on the GAH I think; though the amulet might go for less.

Made a 330k archon wiz and it doesn't kill as quick as my 200k WD.

Sadly, sheet DPS is not always a real indication of effective DPS. DHs are a great example of characters able to get high sheet dps, but their effective DPS is not as good as any other class.

What WD build are you running? That does seem strange though. I know my ~200k Archon set rips through some stuff. Haven't really done much with it because my 230k CM set is boss. >_>

One super easy way to for DHs to get high paper DPS is to turn on sharpshooter and steady aim. I think I'm well over 400k DPS with that... maybe 460k or so I think. They are essentially useless passives in-game though.

There are a few situations where I can do tons of damage, but it basically requires me to be a stationary weapons platform. I have to get right in the middle of a group, cast the right things in the right order, and live off the stacking AoE buffs. Seeing 20+ targets crit for 800k damage each every second is nice for sure, but when it gets down to one target, it takes forever. It's even worse if that target moves a lot.

Someone on the d3 forums figured a 200k DH would take 22 seconds to kill a target that would take a 200k monk about 9 seconds to kill. A lot of people aren't playing their DHs any more because of stuff like this.

I stopped playing my DH awhile ago because of just that. My monk and then the barb I made were so much more efficient at doing inferno. It sucks because I actually like the DH class, but they really need a big buff. There is no reason for anyone to spend 10 billion on a DH set, when that 10 billion on any other class gives you 3-4x the actual results.

Well Barbs and Wizards are getting nerfs in the next patch. Barbs are just by far the easiest/cheapest/strongest class right now.

Wizards have an easy time because of perma-freeze, but that is a build many wizards hate playing, you have to spam so many buttons and it frankly hurts your hand. Blizzard really needs to buff Wizard and DH ranged dmg abilities so they don't have to cheese the game to make it work.

That sucks... I've only really been playing DH because I find her survivability and damage to be best.

But that was back when my barb still had shit equipment and I couldn't afford to upgrade everything. I should try that now that I have 50 million gold and no way to sell it for the whole $1.25 I'd get for it.

I'm a bears WD and my WD mows mobs in MP7 like they were MP2. The wiz seems to take longer even though paper dps is 1.4x more. Its still fun to melt things away. With DH, you have to build them to be able to with stand and resist damage. Don't build them for pure dps, and get rid of ss and sa. Stack vit,ar,armor like every other class. Of course you gotta have all the dps stats to.

Right now? Lol, try: since beta. All the way until now. If you look at diabloprogress 70% of the top 1000 that are PL100 are barbies and those are in order in which they hit 100.

i suck at this game, i dont understand how people get billions of gold

i have 400 hours played, and only a 40k dps wizard, a 20k dps barb, and 1.5 million gold in the bank.

granted, I play the game like once a week for an hour, but still... how does one acquire 10 billion gold?
