You can tweak and enable tons of things in your BIOS (which are normally hidden) with this utility. Take care if you dont have a dual bios as fall back option. credits to spiff form the amdmb.forum

Download here the MODBIN6.exe utility

Good stuff there Chainboy!

Just to clarify your Post, that util is for AWARD BIOSes ONLY.

If you've got an AMI (American Megatrends Inc) BIOS, you'll be wanting...

oh yes, of course, it's for AWARD bios, so it won't work with AMI, and also not with your G-Force bios (hehehe)

Just wanted to let everybody know, that the MODBIN6.exe BIOS utility works very well in ME. You can:

- make all hidden BIOS functions visible
- set all hidden BIOS functions active
- you can set all functions to "see only" or completely disable (helpful for stuff you don't need)
- put values options in
- change registers (not sure what they do)
- change and save the modified BIOS and flash so to have the modifcations in your actual BIOS.

The utility DOES NOT WORK in W2K. In W2K you can still see all the hidden BIOS functions whn you load your current BIOS, but you CANNOT save changes. Took me 4 hours to find this out.

Highly recommended for Gigabyte boards, because of the dual BIOS function, you can keep always the orginal BIOS as back-up, just in case something goes wrong.

I don't know, I sold my A7M266. Just try it and see, maybe not.
This utility we show you all hidden functions of the BIOS. if you now about registers, it will give additional possibilities. I don't touch registers.

easy to use:

- make a folder on your desktop
- put a CPOY of your current BIOS in
- rename your BIOS XXX.bin
- put MODBIO6.exe in the folder
- start the exe.
- load the renamed copy of your original BIOS XXX.bin
- see all the hidden items
- change as you wish
- save the modified bios
- flash the modified bios

Damn... It doesn't like the A7M266's Award Medallion BIOS. Says no version 6.0 found or something....

Ah well, seems to like the 1607 BIOS for my soon to be Epox 8K7A

I enabled Burst Refresh and gained 1 point in Alu memory and 3 points in FPU memory. I just checked the cpu and multimedia benches and I got the same score in the cpu bench with it enabled and disabled. I gained 4 points in Int. and 33 points in FPU Multimedia bench with it enabled. Not bad for just enabling a setting the the bios.

chainbolt--have you tried reworking a bios file using a W98 box, then flashing the tweaked bios to a W2K box?

is there a discussion thread somewhere that details on all the options and features?
