While the recommendations by Termie, DSF and others are solid for a first time builder, they're also under your $1500 budget. Then again, $1500 seems to be a bit more than you should be spending given your needs. Even so, I think we can include some perks that are nice to have and not included in your stock-of-the-mill $1000 PC.
It's not quite clear to me what your current parts list looks like. Is this accurate?
CPU i5 3570k CPU
Mobo AsRock z77 Extreme4
RAM 2x4gb 1600
GPU GTX 670 FTW GPU (or 7950 3GB?)
HDD Seagate Barracuda (1TB?)
SSD Samsung 830 SSD or similar (128 or 256GB?)
Sound integrated
Optical some dvd burner
Cooler Hyper 212 (EVO)
Case Corsair 600T
Monitor Asus VH236H 23" Full Widescreen LCD
PSU Corsair TX650
Headphones/speakers ???
Mouse&mat ???
Keyboard ???

Good point lehtv. I'll throw some things out for consideration (note I'm not calling these recommendations):
Samsung 840 Pro or similar, slightly faster SSD
256GB SSD to partition down the middle to dual boot O/S's (ie 7 & 8 to play with it)
Second HDD to run in RAID 1 for mirroring redundancy
External hard drive for true backups
Additional matched 2x4 GB of RAM if there's a chance it'll get used some day
Water cooler ie Corsair H80
Additional fans and / or fan speed controller
Good point on mouse & keyboard needing to be in this as well
Also keep in mind cost of an O/S and any other software

-This for now is my current build. I have a wireless logitech mouse and do not have a certain keyboard picked out yet. Also have some Turtle Beaches that I use for my 360 that will do just fine.
My main concern is just with the GPU. Not really a "worry", just want it to be up to date and a great performer.

Have fun and I wish that you have a trouble and RMA free experience on this build.

Awesome. Putting it together is a lot of fun. I think I enjoy spec'ing them out and assembling them more than actually using them.

Well, it looks pretty good.
But I have to say ... You went to the trouble of contacting me via PM to ask me to take a look at your parts before you order anything. But then you go ahead and order everything anyway before I have a chance to give proper feedback. What's up with that? I get that you were excited about it and maybe you felt you already got all the feedback you needed. But if you don't want my help, don't ask for it either, it just wastes my time.

???? I have seen your suggestions about the 7950 on other threads, not just here. Your endorsement along with the others that helped me (about the 7950) was a determining factor of me placing the order. I have been reading plenty of you guy's suggestions on the other topics similar to mine.
I'm sorry that you feel that I "wasted your time".

You asked me to specifically check out this thread, and I did, and you ignored my post and went ahead with the order before I had a chance to comment. I don't just "feel" you wasted my time, it's a fact that you did.

Look I am new to these forums and the assistance and comraderie has been great so far so I am not looking to be combative or act like school children as is common on so many other boards. Your advice was taken into account (as was others) in just about every piece of my build. Your suggestions have been more than helpful to me and I hope to be able to solicit your assistance in the future.
With that being said, you are overreacting to be blunt. If you would like to help me out later on great, if not, that's cool too. You act as if I interuppted your life in some major way. I understand where you are coming from and again sorry if you felt that way, but lets drop it.
...and mfenn I will defintely keep you all posted.

I understand, and I appreciate that. Cheers

I'm always willing help you out as long as you're willing to listen.

I acted as if you wasted my time in a minor way. It just seemed disrespectful to ignore the reply that you went through the trouble of PM'ing me to get. And it didn't help that you acted as if you didn't really waste my time. But apology accepted, and I'm sorry for being a bit harsh about it. Maybe it'd be different if this was my day job - if I were ignored, I'd be like "whatever, I'm getting paid anyway". But I help people out for free.
Looking forward to seeing it all set up - post pictures
