Magnets, how do they work?
I bought this window blind for my metal front door on Amazon. It has magnets to attach it to the door.
Today I get an email from amazon stating that since I reviewed the magnetic blinds, maybe I can help this customer with their question.
The question is:
why can't you affix the magnets on a wooden french full view glass door like an anderson door?

Tell them to turn the magnets around to reverse the polarity. Anderson Doors have a special bonding agent in the wood that affects the magnetic field so turning them around solves the issue.

Dear ____, I received you inquiry concerning the use of the magnetic mounts provided with blind kit _____. The magnets in this kit are designed to work with metal framed doors only. You may be able to retrofit the kit for use with wood framed doors but you'll need to replace the metal magnets provided with wood magnets. You may wish to check your local Home Depot or Lowes for wood magnets. Be sure to ask about the magnetic polarity of the wood magnet before purchasing. Wood magnets must be properly aligned to the wood grain on your door frame. Improper alignment of the magnetic polarity is a common reason for unsatisfactory results.

I was hoping more for a physics explanation. Magnets have always fascinated me, especially the round and unusual shaped magnets.

Fine. Magnetotoxins in the wood finish supress the magnetic field around the magnet rendering it useless. Wood varish is like kryptonite to magnets. Imagine what it is doing to your children and your unmentionables.

Almost as bad as the young apprentice plumber I worked with, a while back, who wanted to know if you could weld plastic pipe to copper??
