Default Credit score = 735. What does that mean to me?

Just checked it..

What's that mean to me?

Also, is it better to pay off loans as soon as possible or to let them go to term.. and why?

(I am 22 if that matters at all)

Anything over 720 is rock solid.

As for paying off loans....paying them off early isn't going to hurt you. One reason not to pay them off is if you had bad credit. By not paying them early, you increase the number of on time payments, which helps your score. However, if you are sitting over 720, pay them off as early as you wish. Keep a couple lines of credit open and make payments on time (for CC, mortgage, etc) and you'll be in great shape.

BTW, if you don't have a house, you might want to consider one. Rates are still fairly low and it's a great investment. If you have buddies, have them move in and charge them most of your mortgage payment.

That score means you'll actually qualify for most (if not all) of the "teaser" rates that you see. IE things like 0% car financing, etc

I wonder what I would have as a 21 year old who's only had 1 credit card, paid it off on time except for maybe once in the last 2-3 years...I don't really do a whole lot that concerns credit. meh.

The Credit Education is FREE but not the credit reports or credit score reports.

You may have a good score but could still have trouble qualifying with some banks/lenders due to an insufficient credit history and/or insufficient number of open accounts.
Contrary to popular belief, credit score is not everything... just very, very helpful.

That site is owned by Household Finance Corp., a company that I do NOT have a high opinion of (quite the opposite). Credit reports cost lenders about $10-$15 each... most likely they are absorbing that cost for that promotion in return for detailed marketing information including complete credit profile. A bargain IMO.

The only private way to order your credit report is to pay for it.
Check the credit education though, as there are ways to get free credit reports depending on the state you live in. For example, anyone can get a free copy of their credit report within 60 days after an inquiry by a lender.

I tried to get mine, but it claims it cannot verify my identity, even though I answered the damn question correctly. They must have some of my dad's credit stuff on my report yet again.
