Default Any way to find out how many times a laptop battery has been charged?

Is there any mechanism that indicates how many times
a laptop/notebook battery has been charged?

When someone claims the battery to have been charged
XX times, do we have to take his word for it?

Thanks in advance.

Bacillus is right - there is no way to tell that. Even the owner does not know.

Maybe go to the police station as ask to see his criminal record.

It's probably been charged once, then recharged many times after that.

The Police may lock you up for attempting assault on a battery!

Li-Ion battery chemistry like most secondary systems, has a unique characteristic over its useful lifetime. It most definitely is possible to see how the battery spent most of its service life. Unfortunately, the forensic procedure is difficult and costly. When in doubt, purchase a new battery. The pila cyclecounter is very esoteric unfortunately.

Cheers!

My IBM Thinkpad has some battery software that tells you how many watts are available, max watts available and max watts designed for. It also tells you the cycle count.

Cycle count is somewhat related to the number of times charged right?

Yes it is
But the battery has to fall below 85% or it does not register that as a clycle.

with my A21m, I think it's 95%

I got a warning about my first battery about a month ago, that it was at less then 50% capacity when fully charged. My battery life has decreased from 3 hours to 1:15 or so. The battery is about 2 years old and I use it on AC 90% of the time.
