Sansui has been around for many many many years. If you've never heard of them, you don't know enough about audio. However, I don't know much about their CD tuner decks. Also, lots of people are fooled into thinking that certain brand name audio is the best, such as Bose, Harmon Kardon, etc. (Mostly due to marketing schemes..etc) Many home built systems can be better than such "professional" audio, it just depends on what kind of audiophile you are.

In the 70's Sansui was one of the very best audio brands. Don't know about today.

They're probably as good as Slony, Pranosonic, or Kenwud.

In audio sales years ago we used to call it SansSucki.

Boringly "average".

If you are looking for "audiophile", look elsewhere. If you are looking for "boom-boom, tink-tink" it's fine.

In the 70s, Schlitz was one of the most popular brands of beer in the US.

I was just going to say that. I heard some 70's Sansui speakers recently and they sounded nice and clear. I was impressed. They've been around for a long time, that's for sure, but I've seen their name on cheap stuff lately. That doesn't mean I wouldn't try it though.

LOL! Hey, I only said it was good then. Doesn't mean it's good now. The most sought after cruiser then was also the Trans Am with an 8 track.

If the past is any indication of the present, Sansui audio was weak but their other electronics were good value.

If there is a decent warranty, features, "quality" and the price was right, I'd probably buy Sansui (except audio - I'd listen carefully, - first).
