How could they know? he booked the ticket in advance, he looks like a fake to me but for all Delta knew he was genuinely handicapped and they provided nothing.

They failed to consider their liability if he'd opted NOT to crawl off the plane. It's not as if they were going to move it with him aboard, much less fly to the plane's next destination.

Interesting what would have happened if he refused to crawl off. I wonder if the Feds would have arrested him?

Surely the airlines have procedures in place for people who refuse to leave the plane, perhaps due to mental issues or being drunk. It's happened before.

Delta would have a lot of explaining to do if they called the feds to remove a guy who can't walk.

They'd be silly to arrest him if the guy really can't walk. I would hope someone would lose their job for that - though recent news about the IRS shows how tough it is to get a federal employee fired.

Too many parts of the story don't add up, so I vote shens.

While an wheelchair is not in the aircraft, there put wheelchair people at the first row for accessibility. That removes the story on crawling up the aisle. Flight attendants ask those that need assistance to be patient until other passengers are off so the wheelchair can come down the jetway. As one gets off, you see chairs waiting in the jetway control can or at the terminal exit.

Now for Nantucket, he was on a small enough aircraft that it did not use a jetway, they would have had a wheelchair brought out to the aircraft. If he could not get down the stairs, someone would have thought to use a catering truck to get the chair to the exit door.

And no pictures exist of him in the situation.! In this day/age of cell phones no one shot a picture of him getting off the aircraft and crawling along the tarmac?

What probably happened is there was not a qualified operator of the equipment there because if the flight changes. He was told that he would have to wait until arrangements were set up.

The same if he took a different return flight.

Shens all the way

It seems that this guy has succeeded to getting more hits to his home page... which seems to be what he was shooting for.

Maybe at some time during the flight he forgot to be handicapped and retrieved something from the overhead bin.

Or, in reality, there could be a millions ways he could have given it away.

Try to find one reference to him being in an accident or in a wheelchair that is not related to this Delta story.

If true, you would think it would be all over his work, about how he has overcome it or it made him stronger, or some other crap.

I'm guessing that the Huff Post never talked to the guy, but just wrote the story straight from the lawsuit filing. It's what every story about this seems to be based on.

For a spiritual guru, he must not believe in bad karma to be pulling such a scam.

Yea, while in flight but the point I'm making is when he BOOKED the flight Delta should have assumed he was a legit handicapped person and had the necessary equipment ready, after watching the YT vids I think he's a lying POS and crawled on purpose just so he could attempt to sue, kinda dumb though with the YT vids out there LOL..

I thought Delta stood for Don't Expect Luggage To Arrive, not Don't Expect Legless Traveling Assistance. Either way, I only fly Southwest.

There is one writeup in one of his foundation newsletters talking about the motorcycle accident, continuing spinal cord problems and upcoming surgery, dated a month prior to the flight.

Bad backs can be things that are sporadic. And some people have this pride thing going where they see it as a personal weakness and must never let it be shown. I don't know, my father has always had a bad back and every 6 months goes through a week where he can barely walk. Once I was around when his back went completely out, he's laying on the floor cannot stand up, can barely move his legs, I try to help him, and all he does while lying on the floor is smile and say "No, I'm fine, really, I feel good, no need to do anything for me, I'm good!"

Some people just go to great lengths to hide personal injuries. The story of this guy sounds plausible, but it was absolute shit 3rd rate journalism on the Huffington Post writer, writing what he believed the story to be instead of finding out what the story actually is.

Personally, this guy is probably absolutely miserable to be around when he's not "on", my gut says if the story is true, people didn't want to help him because he pissed them all off during the flight. Nobody is that much into love and peace and spirituality and goodness and all that without having a counter-side to themselves that they are making up for.

Except that this guy claimed to be confined to a wheelchair.

This just does not smell right at all.

I've have a paraplegic family member and you have to plan and ask to avoid these scenarios. You know the deal after years of dealing with it. Call ahead and plan, make sure you don't connect to small airports with steps or small connecting planes.

Fact is, even you enter a plane and airport, you are cattle now and Delta treats you the worst. I've yelled at Delta loud enough I got vouchers too.

Perhaps - but they, as employees, would be safer from repercussions as it was someone else's responsibility to provide the required equipment. If they decided to take their own initiative and help the guy, he ended up hurt and sued it would be their ass, not someone else's. Not saying its a good mentality but many industries function on CYA above all else

It sounds like neither plans were taken to gates with a jetway. I am also doubtful of them being able to get a catering truck to help as the catering truck is likely not Delta's and that company would have to take on the liability if something went wrong

That said I very much doubt the situation is as bad as he makes it out to be. Probably hoping for a 'go away' settlement
