And the award for car most likely to have old renderings/drawings from pre-release 2 years ago posted as new items goes to.....?

You know, they actually sell that car at your local Scion dealership. They call it the FR-S. It looks remarkably similar to the rendering you posted in fact...
Subaru also sells a version of the same car. They call it the BRZ.

Even with only 200 HP (though it isn't too bad for 2,600 lbs), with the handling and relatively low starting price of ~$25,000, the FR-S/BRZ is a car very few enthusiasts can hate, and seems like a very fun car to drive. It reminds me very much of the Mazda MX-5/Miata in that regard.
I haven't driven one, though if I did I'm guessing I would want one badly. The styling is pretty good, though it does have a big "mouth".

I guess I do. I just discovered it. I just bought the wife a 2012 Camry and I was trying to talk her into taking it back and get one of these. She said if it doesn't have 4 doors she won't. So maybe in 5 years I'll go get me a FR-S.

You should hang out here more often... especially before you buy a car. You can post the possible cars you are interested in and then watch everyone here find a million reasons why your decision is a bad one.

I finally got around to watching this weeks Top Gear and guess which car Jeremy Clarkson reviewed? Yep the FR-S/GT-86. He gave it a pretty good review. His big ass cheezy smile while he was cornering was priceless.

I'm glad the final product didn't end up looking like that abomination in the OP. It would have been damn near undrivable with those wheels/tires + suspension setup. That rendering was probably done by some hellaflush reject.

I'm sure he did. Aren't "new" Top Gear episodes that are played on BBC America a year old?

My only complaint with this car is that you need to rev the nuts off of it to get anywhere. I much rather my turbo'd 2.0 with torque and power at the bottom of the rev range versus driving on redline. The interior also felt cheap to me. Handled nicely though.

He reviewed it in the "Worst Car Ever" thing he and James May did a few months ago. That wasn't Top Gear though.

This damn car (FRS/BRZ) grows on me every time I see it. I can respect its uniqueness. It's like the bastard child of a G37, Genesis, or similar...and a Miata. And when I think about it, that's actually pretty neat.
Considering the two bigger cars I mentioned are, IIRC, more in the 3500ish pound curb weight range, this lil' guy is not as underpowered as one would initially think...power to weight is actually pretty similar to other V6 'sport coupes.'

I just wish this car had another 50 HP. IMO it is 50-100 HP short of eternal greatness. Yes, lively handiing is all good and well but sometimes you simply need that extra forward thrust.
