I believe it's been tried before and just gets abused and frankly it looks amateurish and ugly on a forum.

I actually remember when we had a karma system and yes, its pointless. It becomes a dumb popularity contest like everything else and ends up making more issues. It also doesnt help at all.

In fact for that reason I sometimes wish they'd not show the post counts or join dates. Too many arguments start about whether the person is knowledgeable or had been here long enough or is too active to be helpful.

Say what your observation is or move on... I keep saying it and I'll say it again. These posts add absolutely no value besides a +1 to your post count.

The last time we had this it turned in to a cartel of a dozen posters constantly thanking each other. In an ideal world it would be a nice system to have, but the AT forums (particularly the social forums) are anything but ideal.

I would rather have the "original poster mod" installed.

To see it in action click this thread and look at the 3rd post.

You can rate threads in certain forums, and the OP always rates it 5/5. What good is that? I always even it out, whether if I agree with it or not.

Which is exactly what we were talking about.
If you insist on playing games then you are destroying the system which makes it moot.

Please dont play games.
