I would love to join. I don't know how to though. Does our team captain have to enter us into the race?

TeAm AnandTech has joined the challenge!
TeAm-mates: Just crunch on as usually - or rather, put more resources into WCG!

Someone convince me to do this. I have been running SIMAP since the end of the primegrid race and have been the daily point leader for the TeAm each day.
In 30 days I will pass 4 more people on the TeAm and will be getting close to 2M points.
So talk me into this.
(a simple - hey you should join it will be fun will probably work)

I'll switch my 3 machines over tonight to WCG.
Any project there counts correct? Any suggestions on which ones to run?

If you have any GPUs, Help Conquer Cancer is the project to aim for points. If you have a Radeon GPU, they run very well on AMD cards.

Those will work too. My two GTX 460s at 825 MHz takes about 10-13 minutes per WU. This is compared to 1 hour, 30 minutes it takes to finish a CPU WU on my 2500K.

Good to hear. I think my 460's are running at 825mhz.
Just need to remember to switch projects tonight and tell SIMAP no more WU's.

OK, all 3 machines and gpu's are up and running.
Anyone know how I can set up GPU only for a machine? My parents have a slower dual core machine with a GTS450 I put in it. I'd like to run the GPU on that machine.
Will it slow down web surfing? Right now running gpu and cpu is killing my main machine. Not sure if it is because I am running both, or if the gpu is that rough.

I haven't been able to figure out how to do GPU only either. But yeah, the graphics are pretty choppy. I've been having to suspend GPU work anytime I use my desktop.

The project support an app_config.xml file with use of [ncpu][/ncpu] and [ngpu][/ngpu] parameters. Thread discussing it can be found at http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...app_info-files.
Oh, by the way, I've thrrown my PC at it, too.

Good thing I checked in yesterday to see what was going on. Everything I own is now on WCG. Unfortunately with the snowstorm I lost a few hours with the work machines because we checked out early, but they'll be back up on Monday. Until then I'll just have to make due with my two home PCs and Macbook.

You need app_config.xml not app_info.xml
<app_config>
<app>
<name>hcc1</name>
<max_concurrent>4</max_concurrent>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>.25</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>.5</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
</app_config>
4 would be for 4 parallel work units in the GPU (actually 2 in each, serial)
.25 is for 4 work units for the first GPU
.5 doubles the number of cores/threads available because sometimes you can run more work units than the processor has threads. Look for "Computational errors" and that will tell you if you have to many units running.
Computational errors will be seen under "show all tasks"
