Regardless, there are plenty of other genuine responses in here with good suggestions for games. I read it before the OP was banned and got a few good games out of it.
Damn that OP for not caring about it!!

Posting anyways despite OP's banning. Plague inc. has drawn me in recently. A fairly good strategy game where you try to kill every living person on the Earth with an epidemic of your making. Of course you have countries trying to create cures and thwart your progress.

Got it last night. Hell of a game for a dollar, truly.

TODAY Waking Mars is $1.99, normally $4.99. Also rayman jungle run was $2.99 this week I am almost totally positive and today it's $.99. Bastion is $.99. I seem to recall it was $4.99 recently. These are probably one-day or few day discounts.
Walking dead not seen any discounts yet.

There are tons of discounts going on right now from EA, Square, etc. Square also just released Final Fantasy IV on iOS. That game is proof that the world is doomed. Why? Square never releases a game that's Universal!

Bastion would be mine. Need more games like that, I don't find the Infinity Blade type stuff engaging at all.

IB was decent but once I made it through once I stopped. Good for a couple hours, though. Army of darkness and games like it are excellent--and it was evie free, a fantastic game.

Bastion at least has free form moving around and differing weapons and attack types. Infinity Blade - from what I remember - is basically just swiping to kill and then being automatically taken to the next encounter. It is an incredibly simplistic game, no more than Fruit Ninja with a different look IMHO and I equate it to those types of games (Angry Birds, Canabalt, etc.). Games like Bastion, Machinarium and such are much more like "real" games to me, and is more of what I'm personally looking for.
I guess I'm more a fan of adventure games (with at least some combat!) that have a story.

Baldur's Gate turned out to be pretty good. I would suggest waiting for the first update to fix some of the more annoying bugs, but its a much deeper experience than most phone and tablet games. Definitely worth the $10, especially if you've never played it before.

Yes, IB is basically fruit ninja.
I got Bastion for $.99. for that price it is killer. It's a very different kind of game, but the art work is so nifty that it really compels one to keep playing.
I got Waking Mars for $1.99. It's very weird. I'm 18% through and it still just feels to strange to me I'm not sure I'll keep playing, something just really weird about the entire thing.
I'm actually going to say Bastion is one of the most polished games, if not the most, I've played on the iPad. This is a $15 game on xbox arcade right now or $7.50 on steam or a DOLLAR on the ipad. That is criminal--criminal not to get it if you've not. Put some earphones on, it's 8-10 hours play through.

I enjoyed Army of Darkness too... pretty fun till it starts lagging the iPad.
Galaxy Empire (free) - is fun if you like Space Strategy games (metis server is pretty good.
Fruit Ninja - a fun time waster when you get bored.
That's pretty much all that I play.. kinda gave up on Words with friends and Draw Something, but they're notable mentions.

Suggest you guys try out Clash of Clans. It's somewhere between RTS and tower defense and 100% fun & addictive.

Was just about to yesterday. Well reviewed but a ton of negative reviews kicked in a month back when they had their last update. Apparently the game mechanics are more of the money grubbing type now (?).

That's about when I started playing so cannot say how it was before. There are obviously some cash-grab mechanics in place built into the wait times. But overall it's a fantastic game if you're a fan of RTS with a twist. When you attack other players' bases you choose where to start your troops but you don't control them after that. Each unit has different AI goals and goes after targets accordingly. You pick the mix of troops when building and then set your attack points on enemy village according to how it's layed out. Once you commit your troops you just sit back and see how it goes.
One suggestion for new players is get on youtube and watch the videos by Flammy. Good tips and raiding strategy there.

Walking Dead is expensive but it is awesome. Was going to get it for PC but I figured ipad was a good bet as it controls great with touch. Plague inc is also great. Anomaly HD is older but fantastic.
I thought I'd spend more time gaming on my ipad but controls always seem to be the stumbling point for me. Fast action games and FPS just don't feel right.

Thx,I will try clash clans.
Post above me is right fast action is highly limited on the iPad. Bastion has shown me that a diablo type game could work very well on this. In fact, Orc vengeance is like that and I thought it was a great game for a few hours of gameplay also.
I continue to be impressed with bastion. It is too easy but a really great game at its current price and well worth the five bucks it normally is.
EDIT: play clash of clans. Unfortunately it looks like unless a person is constantly paying real money for new gems thee is an awful lot of time spent waiting for things. I fairly hastily deleted it as I anot into the continual-pay nonsense. If a game cannot realistically be played without constantly feeding it I cannot do that.

There IS a lot of time spent waiting for things. But I look at it as time to do other things. I cannot play much at all during the day (work interferes with fun) so I just let my mines/collectors run and log in every couple hours to clear them. Raid a little at lunchtime and then lots at night before bed.
I made the decision about an hour into the game to spend $10 and buy 1200 gems. Used 500 to purchase the third builder hut. Accumulated a few more gems (completing goals, clearing bushes/stones) and bought the fourth builder hut soon after. Means lots less time spent waiting for a builder to become available. Beyond this, have not spent a dime on gems, you get a fair number doing the goals (which just naturally complete as you progress) if you are into rushing work. I'm personally not, just accept the timers and roll with it.

I got Sword and Sworcery as part of the Android humble bundle, it has been on the iOS app store for a while before that. I think it is less than 2 dollars now. I really enjoyed it, I had already listened to the music of the guy who made the soundtrack for it. The controls are sloppy but I like the visuals, simplicity of the story, sense of humor, and the soundtrack.

Gridlee is an extremely good game. Not for the game itself, but for what the engine behind the game can do.
