You do realize that Metlife stadium is in between Newark and Manhattan right? It's actually closer to Manhattan, but who would want to vacation in one of the top tourist destinations in the world when you can go to Phoenix or Jacksonville or some other crappy city the super bowl has been in.

also, the average price is around $3k for a superbowl ticket.
i think most people who are attending a game would much rather be in a comfortable warm climate than possibly freezing their asses off for 3-4 hours.

Well, that's only partly true.
Teams that play in, say, San Diego, are in warm weather year round.
Teams that play in New England or Green Bay are in warm weather for all of training camp and the first half of the season.

For you guys arguing about home field advantage and bad weather, that has nothing to do with anything. The Super Bowl is about the money and sponsorship. The game is just secondary. Indoors or in warm weather cities keeps the corporate sponsors dropping several thousand per ticket happy. Nothing else matters.

The New Jersey Turnpike is a legendary drink typically reserved for the guy on the losing side of a bet. The drink calls for the server to ring out the mat found on the floor of a bar into a shot glass. Then, the liquid drippings found on a nearby bar rag are squeezed into the glass to complete the cocktail. Like the old-school option of moonshine, this drink isn’t recommended for those of us who feel the need to prove our cajones.

I vote they move the Pro Bowl mid season with the same outcome the All-Star game has. Winner gets home field advantage. So if the NFC had won the Pro Bowl it would be played in SF. If AFC had won it would be played in Baltimore.

Newark, NJ would be at the top of my list of worst places to hold a Super Bowl, or anything else for that matter.
Kind of OT, I was across the street from the new 49ers stadium yesterday & it's coming along nicely. Damn those guys move fast.
Now that will be a good place to hold the SB. Nice hotels within a short driving distance, as well as downtown San Jose & a ton of other cool places to hang out.
Hell, Great America's walking distance if you like amusement parks.

Um, the weather is a factor in many football games during the season, and yes, teams have their chances at making the playoffs or getting to the superbowl decided by weather. That's football, deal with it. I wish it takes place -30F in a driving blizzard.
