Why is everything brown toned? I'm not complaining. That's my favorite desktop color :^)

It's not photoshopped, that's the natural color. All I did was some sharpening and contrast.

color balance! exposure control!
Winter photography, at night, with overcast and city lights, I suspect, definitely hinder efforts. Night time with winter overcast always tends to have an amplified sodium vapor look.
Maybe I just loathe the look of sodium vapor.
For photography, I despise it justl the same, except for rare "effect" shots.
The color and exposure tips apply to those vacation shots as well.
But overall, good effort.
I understand the pain of nailing the settings right with the original shot - I still only have a film SLR, though it hasn't been used in, like, three or four years.

I'm not following you. Are you talking about the warm tones of my vacation shots? That is on purpose.

My old ass XTi which is about 5 generations old, and it's an entry level camera at that.
Definitely tripod required.

Great pics, I walked that stretch of the river when I was in NY in October but my pictures didn't turn out anywhere close to that nice.
Where were you in Cali? That kinda looks like the moon pool at hearst castle.
