Ford Thunderbolt
God knows what this guy had done to that car but it ran on 102 octane, had a ratchet 3spd, 6-point harnesses, stripped interior and no mufflers.
Took me for a few on the street 1/2 mile passes - he said it ran 10's.

As a passenger, a modded C5 Z06 where I was driven around Thunderhill by a professional driver. That was an intense lapping session.
As a driver, a R8 V10 which I got to drive around Sears Point.

Been in probably CLK-55 AMG, or maybe a friends old 93 300 ZX twin turbo (was modded)
Driven tough call, I have never driven anything with supercar speed, maybe a Volvo V70R.(300 HP)
I have owned a few 14 second cars, but that's about it.

On a track:
Drove an SCCA Sped Racer Ford a bunch of times, and a (Lemons prepped) 89 Honda CRX-si too.
Autocrossed a '91 ZR-1 Corvette (a few runs with my 74 year old father is the passenger seat!). Can you say throttle management?
Passengered in a Ferrari F355 for a couple of track sessions. Much like a go kart!
Also rode in a Porshe GT3 (with $180K added suspension work) for a couple of track sessions. Basically brutal.
On the street:
Back in the day, drive a '57 chevy with a built small block, beam axle and lotsa fiberglass body parts. With slicks it would pull the front wheels at stoplights. Shifting at 9,000 rpm was a trip.
Learned to drive in a '60 Thunderbird with a 430 cu. in Lincoln motor. If under 40 mph, you could light up the tires for as long as you wanted. In a street race I once saw the speedo at 140.

I don't get the obsession with hp. The most fun I've ever had behind the wheel of a car was in a Lotus Elise which makes 190hp. I've driven some reasonably fast cars too.
900hp just seems like a ridiculous number for a car that is driven on the street to have. Christ, a Formula One car makes about that much power. It just seems like a recipe for disaster trying to control that much power or at the very least not very enjoyable to drive as a result.

My 2011 X3 with N55 for both 'been in' and 'driven'. 300 hp, 300 lb-ft.

Ride? probably a big block '63 Galaxy from back in the day.
It was faster than the '71 455 Trans-Am.
Drive, a tossup between my 340 Challenger or '66 Mustang.
"thing with most power", a brand new Kenworth boom truck with one of these in it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdLHQGScvn4
It had insane torque.

Most powerful was a Ram 3500 with a Cummins diesel. Drove it back when I worked for a construction contractor. That sucker was surprisingly fun to drive hard when it wasn't loaded up.
Fastest was a C2 Corvette Stingray, something like 300+ horsepower. Probably not that fast by today's standards but it felt exhilarating to drive an old classic.

Same, but mine is chipped with upgrade fuel pump and methanol injection. 6 speed auto. I can take it on the dirt roads and hit it from a stop and never get traction until I'm moving 65-70 mph. Great fun.

You've clearly never driven one, therefore your point is moot.

me too! actually i had the pleasure of driving an 1100whp (~1300 crank hp) 98 Supra. it was in street trim (not drag trim) at the time, so it wasn't all that much fun to drive b/c it was relatively tough to control wheelspin until i got into 5th gear LOL...and yes, the owner usually dials the boost down for street driving, but we left the car at ~1100whp that day for shits and giggles...
like you, i also get much more driving pleasure out of my own severely underpowered 430whp 94 Supra b/c it actually gets traction and turns like a champ.

Is that 600 'wrong wheel horse power'?
