Default Highest PPI tablet on the market is....no longer an ipad.

Wow. Panasonic has just dropped a bomb in the form of a 20-inch Windows 8 tablet sporting a whopping 4k resolution. Our man on the scene liveblogging, Mat Smith, said it "looks like a photo" in person, with great viewing angles, and it sports a touchscreen display and stylus, to boot -- with super-detailed stylus manipulation of images also possible according to Panasonic. The company hasn't revealed any more details, but we saw a similar screen from the company last year, and the beast is already parked at Panasonic's booth here at CES 2013, so we're planning to get our mitts on it and give a full report. Stay tuned!

Since this thread has taken a tablet turn, it's being moved from Video to Mobile Devices

There are so many 4k screens at CES this year, I hope it becomes mainstream sooner rather than later!

But....20 inches...it's gonna be a monster for sure.

That's not a tablet. That's a 20" monitor someone forgot to attach a stand to.

Yeah, if this were in the proper forum, it would be by a guy who's heard of the Nexus 10.

That's all great, but will it price anywhere close to an iPad in retail? Maybe in a few years...

Say goodbye to long battery life with that kind of pixel density. I'm inclined to believe that Apple wouldn't be going 4K anytime soon and milk the idea of Retina display(adequate PPI that is perceivable to the human eye). Probably Apple's next step is Sharp's IGZO panels.

Obviously I meant to put "nexus 10" in the topic thread. Forgive the uh...typo.

4K (3840 x 2160) on a 20" - that's actually 220 PPI

Yeah.. doesn't match iPad, let alone the Nexus 10. How are you supposed to hold that thing with one hand?!

I think the Ipad and Nexus 10 are even too big. The nexus 7 is absolutley perfect in your hand, and it can just squeeze into a jean pocket.

A thinner Nexus 7 with less bezel, more screen real estate, and better specs is what I'm waiting for.

Drool. I've never owned a tablet and I don't know anything about that device, and I still want it.

Lol a nexus 7 can squeeze into a jean pocket?? Is obesity that rampant in the USA?? Im pretty sure tablets weren't designed to fit in jean pockets mate.

28" waist jeans, fits a Nexus 7-

http://www.pointerbrand.com/index.ph...nim-rigid.html

Just a generic example. I know trying to dress just like Freddie Mercury is cool overseas and all, but latex ish clothes don't dominate in the States

Edit- Just checked, doesn't quite tuck all the way in, but the 7 fits in my 501s pocket- 30"(76cm) waist.

Did they ever announce any sales data for this? I have yet to see one in the wild. I was recently traveling and saw a fair amount of Nexus 7 and Kindle Fires, but every 10" tablet that I saw was an iPad. It's a pretty solid device, but for some reason it doesn't seem to have had anywhere near as much success as the Nexus 7 or Fire, or at least not in the US.

At 20", that's a "tablet" almost as much as the original Surface was.

I bought my Nexus 10 at walmart. Love it so far, but I wish that screen and internals were shrunk down to 7 inches.

Of course they weren't designed to fit in a jean pocket, but they can. If you dress like a woman than perhaps you have trouble getting stuff in your pockets. I was mainly commenting on the fact that 7" tablet is far more portable than a 10" one. Like my post earlier I said that a 7" tablet that had less bezel, was thinner, and had updated internals would be perfect for me.
