Just take care to keep it in your pocket, when you get out of the car don't have it sitting on your lap, or in a loose hoody pocket or something it can fall out of easy. Taking a extra 1/2 a second to realize where your $500 plus phone can do wonders on keeping it safe and looking like new.
That said i am sure my Note 2 will get smashed soon after this post.

People actually waste money on cellphone insurance?

For 10 bucks a month, i would rather have peace of mind knowing i can do anything outside of losing my phone and best buy will replace it. I enjoy leaving the phone naked and having zero worries about it and no deductable.
Maybe 10 bucks a month is a lot for people /shrug.

Plus another 150 on top of that when you have to actually use the insurance, right?

Plus the joy when you find out that the reasonable fate that befell your phone is deemed outside of what the insurance covers.

It's Best Buy, I know because I used to have it back when I bought my iPhone 3G. I cracked my screen when my phone fell out of lap and Best Buy replaced it with a new iPhone 3G on the spot.

Ya i use Best Buy's insurance, you don't even need to buy it from them to get it. I have had it on my iPhone's and Androids. iPhones are 15 a month, Androids 10 a month. No deductable, they will fix/replace your phone within 3 days and give you a loaner in the meantime. Basically as long as you still have the phone they will replace or fix it.

I've had horrible luck with phones...NONE OF THEM BREAK... I've thrown phones into the ground and they'll still be perfectly fine. I have never had a cracked screen. Tile, Carpet, Pavement. Blackberry Storm - rock solid. Droid Bionic - solid. These phones that I hate are built well.

Looks like Samsung has heard your druthers. They just unveiled a new flexible smart phone at CES - uses OLED display technology on thin flexible plastic - no glass.

I had droid, droid 2 and never worried about the screen cracking through the rare drop. Got an S3 and it had some dead/red pixels, but never dropped and never had a concern about the durability/integrity of the screen (couple months). Got that S3 replaced and new one's screen cracked within a week : (. DID NOT drop it, phone was in car console/cup holder, when I turned ignition off and pulled out my keys and with the same hand picked up my cell phone...Well one of my keys "tapped" the screen in top right corner and boom.
Have a case for it now, but I'm not going to bother/replace b/c I simply don't trust these thinner devices with screens that go to the edge.

Man we're getting closer and closer to what they showed in Caprica, having a single folding piece of paper as your mobile device.

The thunderbolts a brick. I'm not surprised. What I am surprised by is that there's still people who use the thunderbolt!

So it seems the HTC One with it's bonded design and irreparable* screen takes the crown for the least droppable phone. Have manufacturers gone a step too far with their disregard for durability to further design?
* this truly remains to be seen but from the initial reports, dropped One = $$$.
