You should check out the LG skin. I wasn't too enamoured with it. OTOH, the Optimus G does have LTE.

Once they get the bugs of the N4 worked out it'll be better. I have the Optimus G and I love it, fast as hell but only with ICS which is a HUGE downer coming from a phone with stock JB (Nexus S) as I really miss Google Now but it's still faster with ICS than my Nexus 7 with 4.2.1. I haven't had any experience with LTE yet since I'm on Sprint and it's not officially live in LA yet. The OG has Eco Mode to supposedly help with battery life but I haven't noticed a difference with it off or on. The OG has had great standby battery life for me and that seems to be another current bug with the N4 as well. If you need LTE or a phone right this second get the Optimus G but if you can wait until the Nexus 4 comes back in stock, grab that as I do miss stock Android. ROMs will eventually take care of that on the Optimus G though as some are finally coming out. I don't mind flashing ROMs so that's why I didn't mind picking up the Optimus G since we know that it'll never be super up to date software wise.

Without being able to read the article it doesn't mean a whole lot with just the pic. I prefer the iPhone due to the size and my preference of the OS. Android is a wonderful OS, I just prefer iOS. And I like the smaller size. As already mentioned the better Android phones tend to be rather large. Only one I am familiar with that is on the smaller is the Razr M.

I have a GNex, and I love it. No issues with it.

However, if the Moto Droid RAZR M came with SLCD or SLCD2, I would buy it in a heartbeat. It has a 4.3" screen, but is the size of 4" screen phones.

If a small screen's something you're after not buying a s3 Mini over the regular's stupid. The average consumer doesn't know, understand, or care about hardware specs. Personally I like smaller screens, so I'll take less speed over a big ass screen.

I wouldn't buy either the mini or the regular, I hate both of them. I like small screens and luckily for me the iPhone gives me the small screen with amazing performance. And even the latest high end Android phone feels laggy to me, so I'd be here complaining regardless if I actually had one.

So you'd still get a 3.5" iPhone 3GS/4/4S over the 4" iPhone 5 today, despite them being laggy and/or missing many features in iOS 6 compared to the iPhone 5?

Well one could argue that the switch from a 3.5" iphone to a 4" one wasn't a big deal because many iphone users always wanted a bigger screen. It does make sense that if a 3.5" screen wasn't a problem , a 4" may only start to become unwieldy for a small fraction and anything larger is a problem. Can we have a show of hands here?

Being 6'6" and gripping a basketball is definitely not the average user yet I couldn't care less and the average user isn't too concerned either because OEM's would have rolled back already. Yes, size is an issue but how often? if you really spend your days grasping for the corners of your smartphone's display, you have my sympathy. Victims of the "bigger is better" stereotype should emerge as a factor for OEM's any day then, if their count is really as significant.

I was comfortable with the Note 2 so I'm definitely on one extreme end of the scale, folks who couldn't handle HD2 and the Sensation are on the other but the average smartphone size has already shifted, in part because OEM's saw it as an opportunity to fight the iphone. When it came out, iphone had one of the biggest displays, Android kicked off it's lineup with 3.2" & 2.8".

Since smaller alternatives wouldn't bother me even though I probably wouldn't consider them, I have no issue with that market being catered too but it doesn't look good for the minority. It's like telling a car maker you want a better engine and they respond to shift gears more efficiently.

The 3.5" and 4" iPhones feel very similar in some respects, since they are the exact same width.

For my 4.7" Android phone, I've taken to moving my more used icons to the right of the screen, and leave the less used ones on the left. I have a very hard time reaching the left icons with my right thumb one-handed. Going from my current 4.7" phone to the same generation 4.3" would shave the width down from 68 mm to 61 mm, a 7 mm difference. That's very significant IMO, and is a huge advantage for one-handed usability for the general population.

I have a 4s, while it's not as fast as the 5, it feels faster overall than any Android device I've used. While I'd like to have the 5, they're still too expensive. 4" is a good size, not too big, 4.3 is really the largest I'd go, and honestly even that's pushing it. I had a Galaxy Note for 5 months and didn't like the size. And I went from an Android to the 4S, so it being slower than the 5 was a non issue since it absolutely smoked my Note.

A lot of people seem to be complaining about the length, not the width on the iPhone 5.
I hear reaching for the top is the problem, not reaching for the left or right.
But then again, this may be selection bias from people that love the 3.5" iPhone size and are stuck in their ways.

How do you know this? You do realize that screen size is measured diagonally right?
What if what you're expecting to save you 7mm in width going from 4.7" to 4.3" only saves you 1-2mm with a different length combination or due to large bezels?

The length is a concern, but the width is a bigger concern to me.

I know that going to 4.3" will save 7 mm because I quoted real world specs. 4.3" in the real world in 2012 is under 61 mm including bezel. Take a look at the specs of the RAZR M. I'm comparing my RAZR HD. There is also room to shrink more.
