Consumer Reports, you so crazay!

In fact, Consumer Reports' conclusion is even more depressing for Apple fans.
Consumer Reports actually rates the iPhone 5 the worst of the top smartphones.

Doesn't even rank at TMO and Verizon. CR also gave the iPhone 3GS and 4 low marks too, but people don't take negative reviews of iProducts seriously.

I think this is dumb. It's definitely not the worst top smartphone. I wouldn't say it's the best but it's definitely not the worst.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion including companies.
It's so close it's a who cares with ATT and Sprint anyways.
TMO doesn't even sell iPhone so how would it rank anyways?
Verizon is Droid this, Droid that haven't you seen the commercials?

They will be shortly, didn't they announce this recently? Due to their spectrum acquisition and refarm, Apple doesn't have to make any changes to the iP5 for TMO's network.
Regardless, an iPhone 5 is an iPhone 5 on any carrier. Different data speeds, but the user experience will be identical.
But, I agree, among all smartphones, the iP5 isn't even close to the worst. Maybe among the current generation of high end phones? But, I'd wager there's a few worse models out there. Verizon's Droid Incredible 4G got dismal marks from Android Police, if I recall.

Would like to see their reasoning for this.
If anything it is one of the top 3 smartphones out right now.

if you see the models they rated ahead of it their conclusion is very believable, the SGS3 Optimus G, Droid Razr Maxx HD, and Droid Razr HD are all better than the iPhone as a whole imo.

I agree with you on this. I don't see what the big deal is anyways.
In the end we all buy the phone that works best for us.

I can see the Razr Maxx HD, since it has that crazy huge battery.
However, I tend to take Consumers Reports with a big grain of salt, esp. now. They're a dying company, and need all the attention they can get.
BTW, I have the Razr HD, and I do like it a lot, but I don't think I could honestly say it bests the iPhone 5. Overall it bests the 4S though... IMHO.

I've got the ip5 and their ranking doesn't bother me one but. I bought it for specific reasons that fit my needs.
I switched from a gnex and razr m. In large part for the battery life and apps I wanted and the way they feel. The razr m was great, the right size and had amazing battery life but it couldn't play some of the more intensive games well.
I like the weight of the ip5, the size and the is and system as a whole. Both android and iOS have their pros and cons.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and what suits them. They are so close now you really can't go wrong. Both are very mature.

why would it be depressing for iPhone fans? I could care less what a magazine thinks or says. I owned 5 different Android phones over the years. And I've played with every current one, I wouldn't trade my iPhone 4S for any of them. Android will probably never suit my needs.

I would think the top phones would be S3/Note2, iPhone and Nokia 920 along with maybe the DNA and 8X. OS is really personal preference at this point.

Jesus, are BusinessInsider's editorial staff are complete hacks. "Oh noes, this 6-square-inch crop of a summary chart in next month's CR only rates the i5 in the top 3! It's 1-2 whole points behind the other flagship products! Apple is in teh toilet!" Hyperbolic click-bait crap.
No disrespect, of course, to Consumer Reports. They've rarely steered me wrong, and I doubt I'll have any objective disagreement with their ratings.

Where's the Note 2? (Other than T-Mo) The iP5 wouldn't even make my top 3.

My only problem with the GS3 and Note 2 are the size. I can't stand such large phones. For me the Razr M and Iphone 5 are about perfect. I don't want anything bigger than 4.3 really. Physical size wise the Razr M and Iphone 5 are as big as I'd want. I could see thicket for better battery but since having the ip5 the thinness and weight really spoil you.
On the flip side my brother has a GS3 as his work phone and thinks the size is perfect for him. He's digging the phone and likes the screen.
Keep in mind I came from a Gnex so I've had a bigger phone. I liked the phone and got used to the size but it wasn't tough going back to the iphone and the smaller screen size.

Yea, once I read that I threw my iPhone 5 in the toilet and slot my wrists.

As far as I'm concerned, the Note II doesn't even count as a phone. The size is just ridiculous.
The RAZR M is getting there with its very nice sizing, but the much lower screen resolution is a deal breaker.

Yeah, 4.7" is too big for a phone IMO. Doesn't work well unless I use two hands. I don't have basketball hands.

Many of us thankfully don't have dainty little leprechaun hands and have to constantly complain about fractions of an inch.

I went from 3.2" to 4" to now 4.7" and I use 4.7" just fine with one hand and I don't have big hands. 4" just is too small for a high end phone.

All apple really needs to do is revamp iOS. It's become rather boring. Hw wise it's all pretty much the same on all platforms. Innovation is in the sw not the hw.

Has anyone complaining of bigger phones actually used one for any period of time? Most of the time it seems not.
I have a friend who would complain that 4.3" was too big for a phone, he now has a Note 2 and loves it.

I have the Lumia 920 and it is far too large. Why is it so difficult for some of you to understand that some of us just have a different opinion than you?

Ah yes, the other side of the spectrum. Insult those with different preferences.

Opinions fine and we all have different ones.
Manufacturers follow the market though, and the market shows that when given a choice customers choose bigger phones.

Lots of iPhones are still sold, and its really not a fair comparison among Android because the biggest is usually also the best. I don't want a big phone, but if I had to choose between the GS3 or the GS3 mini, well, I will take the GS3, just like I took the Lumia 920 over the 820.
A lot of people like big phones. A lot of people don't. The big phone cadre on these forums just can't accept the latter as true, and it gets old.
