The funny thing is that with obamacare (that removed caps), Walt would be fine.

Yeah, except not fine at all. Instead of the best doctor available he would get some budget doctor that's flooded by other patients coming in for the "free" healthcare.

Anyone else not annoyed be Skyler at all and find her to be one of the few generally moral and reasonable characters in the show?

The show is more realistic with Skyler this way, and it is easier for guys to relate to Walt.

IIRC, New Mexico has the highest ratio of Federal dollars received to taxes paid.

Yes, especially with Walt becoming increasingly anti-hero.

I know I sure like having my healthcare provided by a hospital that wants to make as large a profit as possible off of me and controlled by an insurance company that wants to make as large a profit as possible off of me.
When will the rest of the world learn? Us Americans are the only ones with the smarts to have a for-profit healthcare system to maximize our well-being.
Oh, wait, no. You're retarded. Get back in your cage.

The only unbelievable part is how he resorts to producing meth instead of just taking the company's offer to pay for his treatment for him.

really took too long to say this.
OP, I guess you haven't watched far enough into the show, because all of his current shortocmings are explained. Not only should he be making boatloads more money--because it is true that he's a bit of a genius chemist--but the reason that he is not just adds to his overall bitterness, as you'll see.

You mean the one who was morally opposed to breaking the law to support her family who lived fairly modestly but was OK with it when it was to support her boss who bought luxury cars and lived the good life?
Yeah, she has a wonderful moral compass.

The basic premise is explained before he ever makes meth, sure it's expanded on later but if you don't get the whole "he wasn't making much money and was about to have massive expenditures leaving his family in debt just before his death" part I'm pretty sure you were just half asleep.

That was because of fear of IRS audits on her business. Even still, luxury cars and "support[ing] her boss" are beside the point; she needed a job and overlooking shady accounting statements was basically a part of that.

She's the one who cooked the books from the get go. She went back to her old job and continued to cook the books so her boss and probably her wouldn't go to jail. Walt has his justifications too, but that doesn't make either moral.

I don't remember it being implied that she did so in the years prior, but if so, ok.

Please try to limit your idiocy to the political forum.
First, Walt went to doctors outside of his coverage plan. So caps weren't the problem.
Secondly, he wanted to leave his family money after he dies. Socialized medicine isn't going to improve life insurance. It might even make it more expensive.

Dumbest post of the day. Walt had the option of having it covered, that is the bottom line. Who gives a shit if he went out of network? That's his fault, his company + obamacare no caps = that he would have been fine financially and been able to afford it. Whether it gave him adequate treatment or not is moot. Try to keep up.

But the premise of the show is that he's poor and has to work two jobs to make ends meet. (Also, his wife and her sister are complete cunts. Can she not get a job?)
It doesn't jive. $80k in Arizona should be upper middle class. Their house certainly shows that they are.
Also, why is the wife such a huge bitch?
Just seems a little thin. Once you look at this, there's no reason what so ever for him to be needing quick money...and the rest of the story falls apart pretty quickly.
So, why all the hype?
|
LMFAO most highschool chem teachers do not have masters, most have a bachelors, and if they do have a master it is usually in education not in chemistry.

Damn, this thread is incredibly weak.
OPs original assumptions are dumb - and yes, even if the premise is stretched a bit, OP is trying way, WAY too hard.

But teachers are almost guaranteed to be in a union of some kind which means they're almost guaranteed to have great benefits as well but this show obviously isn't realistic.
