And why you'd ever consider using a pistol for that boggles my mind. Shrediffier.
Higher crit damage, wonderful accuracy, a high zoom with no scope to blind you from threats. It's a sniper rifle - recoil is irrelevant, you shouldn't trying to fire off shots as quick as possible. Mag size - also of very limited relevance. Between Fast Hands and The Killer, I reload the gun faster then the refire rate.
Have you ever actually, you know, used it? 9 round burst, every round affected by boosts like the bee, every round causes elemental effects. Pop up, 1 burst, back in cover, my shield isn't getting hit, and the enemy is dying. Plus, Bitch is a Hyperion weapon, which means that it's not actually accurate at all til you've been firing it for 2 seconds straight. Spray and Pray and hope they don't kill you before the stabilizers kick in and you can actually hit something. Hyperion weapons suck.
I don't have to look at any calculator, I've *used* them. Then tossed them right back in the vault.
|
Used them all. Real easy with a save game editor. I compared them all as well. And infinity isn't spray and pray. It's a nice front of of damage in a decent accurate area (the figure 8 bit is annoying though). I don't have to scope and can shoot from FAR range and get crits all day long with it without any enemy even getting close enough most of the time to shoot back. And Skullthumper has +180% crit damage which is higher than the buffalo sniper WITH higher accuracy, less recoil, faster shooting, reload, zero in, and bigger mag. There is no better sniper unless you are going for pure elemental damage then go with the Volcano.
As for bitch, the accuracy STARTS better than sandhawk. Who cares that after a second of firing it gets MORE accurate. Holy crap, that's a stupid comparison to make.

Just loaded up my save.
Skullmasher's accuracy is 85.5%.
The Buffalo's is 95%.

Seriously the best weapon in the game is the infinity pistol I think. Although it shoots in an annoyingly figure 8 pattern.

Well if the leaked stats on the new weapons are correct, then they might well be the best. Heres the link, it just has the weapon stats, nothing else.

Depends on how to get skullmasher. However, zoomed in, where you'll be using a sniper 99% of the time they are both dead on 100%. I don't use a sniper when running and gunning. I switch to something else like most people. Actually, I think they both suck compared to anything from BL1 sniper rifles.

Thanks for the code. Just started a new character so is great to get 5keys.

No they aren't dead on when scoped. The skullmasher has a visible pellet spread.
And...really? You and I remember BL1 snipers differently. The BL1 sniper rifles all had the bullet velocity problem, which torpedoed accuracy at anything resembling sniping range. Far too much bullet travel time. BL2 snipers fire much faster bullets.

Some of those weapons look pretty bad-ass. I like the "shield" that increases health and resistance with no shields. That is kind of cool as a buffer tank.

Jacobs sniper rifles have a 520% critical damage multiplier, which is obviously higher than 180%. I find non-Jacobs snipers are a waste of time, since my play style means I am going to get a critical nearly every shot, and Jacobs are the only weapons that have a high enough critical damage to put down a badass or large enemy in one shot.

Skullmasher is a Jakobs sniper rifle. That's the +180% bonus mod on top. Skullmasher has the highest crit damage of any sniper rifle in the game currently. It also has the highest base damage. Basically the Skullsmasher does 10x more damage potential than any other weapon on a crit hit.

That's all theorycraft though. Skullmasher's high base damage is actually spead out across 5 pellets, and the thing isn't all that accurate. Mine has a spread zone larger then a man's head at 50 paces.
If you're up against opponents with huge critical hit zones, like the Warrior, it's a damn fine weapon. Against Mooks, much less so - the spread means you simply won't hit with all 5 pellets, much less crit with them.
Sandhawk vs Bitch is amusingly similar. Bitch is fairly accurate and does decent damage. Sandhawk isn't that accurate, and it has a bullet travel time to boot - but it's theoretical damage output outright eclipses Bitch. It's 5600 per shot for an elemental bitch, versus 3600 for an elemental sandhawk - But Sandhawk fire 7 shots per trigger pull, putting it's theoretical net output closer to 25k.
Sandhawk has two big aces in the hole though. One, it's Dahl, so it's got a three shot burst. Two, and far more importantly, every shot is affected individually by the Bee. Taken together, you're firing 3 shots, each containing 7 projectiles capable of 40k damage each. Works out to something like 850,000 damage for a single trigger pull.

Except, when I zoom in with skullsmasher, all 5 shots go to the exact same place. Zero spread on the first shot. The initial shot for skullsmasher just far out strips every other sniper rifle for damage. The whole point of a sniper is a 1 shot 1 kill weapon and skull smasher is about the only sniper that can do that on the badass and boss targets.
As for bitch versus sandhaw, bitch fires faster. So puts out about the same amount of shots as sandhawk does with it's burst fire with less ammo consumption. On top of that, each shot hits for more, and is far more accurate. Which means more crits with it compared to sandhawk. Then factor in a larger magazine and faster reload and it's EASY to see over a longer fight time frame the Bitch is going to far outstrip on damage the sandhawk.

Do you guys have any particular strategy to using your golden keys? I figure it is best to use them at higher levels, but I just used one last night with my level 21 Zero build and I got a pistol that is a complete ass kicker. Makes me wonder if I should just be using them as I get them rather than hording.

I save a handful, but IMO you should be using them as you get them.

I only use Golden Keys when I'm leveling a new character and find myself in need of a better weapon. After hitting 50, I don't use them at all - far more practical to farm.

You could always use a few at smaller intervals to make up for not finding any good upgrades. The best part is that you can then pass down those awesome weapons to your fledgling characters and they won't have to use keys while leveling.

Exactly. I used the first 10 or so keys at different levels of playthrough 1 for mechromancer, then handed them down to my other 4.
You do need to get another character or two to Sanctuary so they can get to the shared bank and take the guns out of your main character's inventory.
Having the others parked there also means you can pass them any blue class mods you find, since the vendors are so bad about offering class mods you actually want.

i have been using my keys at the 10s. so like level 10, i used a few and then at level 20, then at lvl 30, etc. as others have mentioned, since weapons can be given to alts, imo, no reason to save the keys really. im sure there will be a bunch more codes given out for a while. going to hit 40 soon, and then spend a bunch of keys to see what i get.

I went back to play borderlands 2 and decided to start up a Mechromancer. Does anyone else think that this class sucks? There is just way too much give/take in the ordered chaos tree and the other trees are sparse with anything usefull. It is annoying to have to build up anarchy stacks only to die and have to rebuild them, plus the accuracy penalty pretty much negates any benefits of the damage bonus outside of boss battles or giant enemies. I just don't understand what they were aiming for with this class, just seems like a bunch of halfass crap that was thrown together along with a "pet" just to make a new class.
I will take any tips but I am level 22 and am not liking the class at all. I mean the pet is powerful and all but just sitting around waiting for the cooldown before going into each fight seems boring.

The Mechromancer is very powerful, but you are right in that if you are spec'd for Anarchy and die, you are pretty much screwed. However, since Anarchy reduces your accuracy, you pretty much need 5 points in Close Enough in the Best Friends Forever tree. With this, misses will typically still hit the target for reduced damage. Since your damage is already boosted by so much, the reduced bullet damage is still really high.
Since you will need to eventually swap to using mid-range to close-range weapons after around 120 Anarchy stacks -- I believe that's about when Sniper Rifle head shots were hard to get -- you will want to also get about 3-5 points in the Blood Soaked Shield talent. The reason why I don't always fill this talent out is because small amounts of damage to your shield still cause you to incur the health loss. I've dropped down to the flashing red just from killing skag pups that took tiny bits off my shield, which caused it to trigger the shield restore/health loss.
I would also probably only recommend 3/5 in Preshrunk Cyberpunk (raises Anarchy cap). I found that too much Anarchy just made things a little too difficult.
