Exclamation Car Cameras Direct .com Satisfaction Guarantee Exposed?

Can anyone share there dealings with this company? BUYER BEWARE! Car Camera Direct

My unit has stopped functioning and they do not seem to back up there guarantee, in fact they don't even explain there guarantee on there website.

The camera is no longer booting up, when battery is in fully charged pressing power leads to a car picture however it does not go any further, you let go of the power button and the car picture goes away.
When plugging in the car charger it automatically goes on and gets to the car picture and freezes.
I am no longer able to use this item due to these reasons.
Please advise on getting a replacement.


Then I read on this site this company is a HONG KONG scammer!
If this is the case and you have experienced the same please do tell!

I confronted them about what I believe to be a scam, buying from Florida only to find out you have to send the unit to Hong Kong for any warranty.
Being in Canada I used the internet canadapost.ca to look for the best possible rate, it turned out to be $38.43 to send it to HONG KONG and then they will ship a replacement. This method also takes 4-6 weeks?
So in reply to my asking if they were scamming me and without there service department having looked at my location/address here in Canada this was there response.

Watch? My issue is with a car camera, are they even paying attention?

Seems to me that he was the lazy and ignorant one assuming I had a US address as well as not even looking to ensure he understands the item I am referring too?!

I am of the belief that this is to deter anyone from actually getting a replacement.

So now this company wants me to blindly send with no invoice $20 to a un-verified PayPal email address, in return they say they will ship me a new unit from Florida?
At this point I am not sending anything without a PayPal Invoice and respectfuly asked for one so that I would have a record of the transaction as well as paypal behind me.
They are ignoring me on sending an Invoice, further making me believe if I sent the $20 blindly I would lose that as well.
I seriously suggest anyone considering a purchase with them to do in depth research on this Florida? company! (It appears to be HONG KONG now!)
My opinion is Buyer Beware!
My $95 purchase seems to be down the drain in less the 5 weeks!

I have responded with my very first message reporting the camera as broken, I have included the invoice # and PayPal transaction ID# as well.
He now has reference again and I will await his response.

So I respectfully replied the following

"With all due respect dear sir I am located in Canada and after researching the most cost effective shipping method I have found that the cost is $38.43 and will take 4-6 weeks.
This seems rather long and expensive considering that my purchase came from a Florida address.
May I request that you allow me to forward the item to the Florida address, this will cost me $18.30?,..or
May I also suggest the possibility that I pay $20 using Paypal, if you can send me an Invoice stating that you will send me a new unit using the PayPal service I would be happy to do so at once.
I was very happy with the camera until it stopped functioning and would appreciate that you would send me a new unit upon payment as outlined above as soon as possible.

Here is my reply:

So the bottom line is they will run you in circles,...Buyer Beware,..If you purchase from this company and the unit fails you can expect that you will be paying a hefty shipping charge to Hong Kong along with a 4-6 week wait to get it to Hong Kong and then if they actually replace the item maybe 4-6 weeks to get that replacement.
None of this is explained on there website, in fact all it says is Satisfaction Guaranteed!, this is a load of cow dung!
If they were serious about there warranty they would state this on there website and make the whole replacement procedure much more friendly and easier to accomplish.
Remember the manner in which a customer has been insulted and realize that Tommy Sun is not a man of character at all, but someone using a loop hole to take advantage of foreign customers!


Is it not unreasonable to assume that when you buy from a company in Florida that any further dealings would also be with this same company in Florida?
Shifting the warranty replacement to Hong Kong is in my opinion a set up, a scam to steal your money by not living up to there Satisfaction Guarantee located on there website.
I accept I have been duped here, lost my money, all $95
I will however exercise my right of free speech to alarm those that are thinking of purchasing from this company, sharing my experience so you may make the final judgement on Car Camers Direct .com & Tommy San

I will state at this time on the Car Camera Direct Website that no where does it state that you are dealing with a Hong Kong Company, it does not state anywhere that if the item fails you have to send it to Hong Kong! The contact address on the website is Florida, Why are they being misleading about who your actually doing business with?
When someone is hiding there is usually a reason.

Still playing games with me over where I should return the item!
I searched the company that they want me to send the broken camera too and low and behold they also have numerous complaints about all of there items, it seems at this time they sell several products through 6 different websites and there are many complaints about this company that are very similar to my complaint.

I do not feel it to be unreasonable that the item should be set to the address they post on there website, there Satisfaction Guarantee is vague at best,..Buyer Beware!

Simple math does not seem to work for you. You will be further ahead by excepting this method?

Update #9 - Likely my last I'm tired of this guy, from a business point of view he has just lost it!
I realize that the Customer is never always right nor is the company, this company and it's abusive approach to customer service is like nothing I have ever seen, I actually feel embarrassed if I can't perform as I have stated, most importantly I try to make sure the end result is a good result regardless of how we got there. Not correcting problems correctly just leads to more problems.
Each customer is unique and has a unique personality so it stands to reason that there can be disagreement.

This is my latest reply from Mr Tommy San, it is in response to me trying to speak logically with someone I now know is not capable of being logical, spitefulness has taken him over.

I will state that below he says he's quoting company policy?,..the last time I looked I could not find this company policy on there website, perhaps they have over looked that? I took a screen snapshot of several pages in case he tries to correct that and throw it back in my face.

Judge Mr. Tommy San, Car Camera Direct & even myself on this report, I am not perfect.
I trust that the reality of dealing with the above mentioned is very clear and doing so can lead to a similar circumstance should your unit break down. If you push your belief on them they may even show malice intention toward you and your business, implying to cause your business harm for speaking and posting about your experience in dealing with them, I say based on my interaction with the above

I just did a WHOIS search on there website only to find out this business was formed in Dec of 2011, approx 7 months ago, just saying?

In light of the fact that the naysayers in this thread are all one-time posters and the folks with something positive to say are long-time posters, I'm going to lock this up as sketchy - at best.

that sucks, you should just use a contour camera or gopro, they dont have that screen but at least you can get support for it

Buddy looks like we are suffered same. I purchased and returned their camera in April and 3 months later the refund is still nowhere. Messaged to HK and talked to their 855 number never worked. It sucked. If you can please broadcast what this company did to let people stay away from them?

what's with all the new people posting on this thread. It looks like OP had a very bad experience, and is trying to discredit these guys as best as he can. So he made a bunch of extra accounts to try and show that he got a lot of people to go against this company... 1 post is enough... but all these extra "1" post accounts I call fake... makes the op look pretty bad...

I returned my camera for a full refund under their 30 day refund policy, following all their requirements. they received it back 89 DAYS ago and I am still waiting for a refund.[/B] EVERY phone call tells me you must deal with Billing via email we are separate from them and can offer no help. Billing has sent me the same email 4 times now saying

"Thank you for your inquiry. Taking care of your concerns is very important to all of us at Evolution Worldwide. Our payments are handled by PayPal, the safest and most secure internet payment company. We have had a deluge of orders and are behind in taking care of everyone. please be patient and your refund will be processed."

Found the exact same camera i paid $78 for with shipping, for only $21 and FREE shipping. (have since bought 2 and they work perfect) I too was under the impression they were a Florida based company, THEY ARE NOT!!!! Funny, I ordered from these guys, and I received the best customer service possible! I was issued a refund IMMEDIATELY, and also they threw in a few free gifts to make my experience better next time!

The best part was when I talked to Alan from customer service, and he was extremely courteous answering all my questions, attending my every need. This is my 5th time dealing with this company, and this is the FIRST time I received a bad product from them.

Default Carcamerasdirect.com = bad news.

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY. It seems odd the poster above researched this site simply to compliment.....Seems fishy. Anyway, the experiences I've had personally, along with what I've read here and online......BUYER BEWARE. RESEARCH THEM ON THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU WEBSITE AND WITNESS FIRST HAND ALL THE COMPLAINTS ISSUED AGAINST THEM. FYI.....they also are affiliated with Evolution World Wide Limited. Although they indicate they are based out of Florida, all dealings are from Hong Kong. The camera I received is a piece of garbage and lasted about a month. From day one, the advertised features did not work at all. No where on the package or so called "Instruction Manual" does it have a company name, so that you can call for any type of guidance. The "manual", with horrendous English, is extremely vague and basically useless. I went on carcamerasdirect.com's website, and hit the "Chat" button, ironically, if you ask questions about a defect in the product, a message pops up: THERE IS NO ADVISERS AVAILABLE, yet if you indicate you are interested in purchasing a product, they all of a sudden answer right away. I did this seconds apart, and it worked multiple times. I couldn't locate them through Amazon and I wonder if it's because of their band due to their extremely poor business practice. Please join me in voicing the deception you've had with this company so we can warn others. THIS IS NOT THE TYPE OF COMPANY ANYONE WANTS TO DEAL WITH.

I don't know who is more odd, someone with only 2 posts on this board, or someone with 3k+ posts on this board.

No need to research them on the Better Business Bureau. I have a friend who works for the Better Business Bureau, and he's heard of carcameradirect.com. He told me the entire company purchase their company vechicle cameras from there! My friend who works there (Mustafa Obéjuan) mentioned to me that his sales rep George T. has been his rep for years. Nothing but the most service a company can possibly give. I guess I was unfortunate that one time, but the ENTIRE Better Business Bureau has 100% satisfaction!

Now you must think to yourself: If the Better Business Bureau purchases their company vehicle cameras from carcameradirect.com, then it must be a good company. I mean, it's the BBB!!!! I even showed Alan (my rep) this post and he started laughing right there on the phone! He says he remembers this guy, and that even though they tried to send out a NEW unit, he refused and wanted more than what he paid for, and a FREE unit!

Basically, what Alan told me was that the guy was being unreasonable and rude, and because he didn't get his way, he's trying to put the company down. Showed Mustafa this thread as well, and he chuckled and wonder who in the world will believe how bad carcameradirect.com when they have the support of the BBB.

Sorry pal, you're not going to have your free lunch today lol.

Damn for less than $30 and a handful of good, honest reviews (3/4 star reviews), it almost seems like a good buy. It's basically a disposable dash cam with sketchy build quality THAT if you get working right, it works fine for what it does.

Might actually buy one thanks to this post. For $30, if it works, awesome! If not, oh well, I'll try to return it but won't waste much time on it.

Car Cameras Direct "Evolution" is a con job and is totally reliant on good honest buyers returning their faulty cameras so that they can resell to another unsuspecting buyer.
Every camera they sell is faulty and i am really disappointed that PayPal continues to support this criminal operation.
The facts are that you either return or keep the faulty product as I can guarantee you are never going to be supplied with a new / in good working order camera.
The business is in the business of ripping you off and they are not going to apologise for taking your cash and supplying faulty junk.
I have read all of their caring literature however; just check the dispute detail and they always state - case closed.

I've had plenty of great experiences with CarCamerasDirect.com.
Their staff there are very knowledgeable, and have helped me tremendously in my work.
I've personally spoken with Tommy, and he is a great guy and has always been there to give me beneficial input.
Tracy is also a wonderful person and answered all questions I could ask.
I recommended them to all my friend and family, and they've all been quite satisfied with their work.
Take it from me, CarCamerasDirect.com is the best company ever!
