Last time I checked, if you buy the classic Fallout games on Steam, you'll have to do some tweaking in order to get them to work on newer systems. Can anyone confirm this?

If so, it's a better idea to skip Steam and buy these off GOG.com instead, where they will work 100% fine out of the box with no tweaks required.

OK, so I bought the pack. I can confirm Fallout Classic runs fine on Win7 x64. Haven't tried the other two.

I've heard a lot of positive things about it and it does look good. I'm a big fan of both the genres they combined.

The 20th seems to be the day it usually starts. At least, that's the day it's started on for at least a couple years now, so it's reasonable to assume it would start on the 20th this year too.

(Then again... as we learned with this year's Summer sale, you can never be sure)

It was leaked along with the Autumn sale dates by a dev that Valve contacted asking if they wanted to take part in those sales and they had given the dates they would be starting/ending.

Never got around to playing Jade Empire, and looking at my game backlog, I still won't.

I always sort of wanted Jade Empire, but not sure it is my cup of tea. Is it a more of an RPG like KOTOR, or more of a fighting type game with a lot of combos, etc? I am not really good at all at the fighting type games.

These cheap games keep tempting me, but then it seems I never play them, so even for a few dollars it could be a waste. For instance I got Earth 2160 for a buck something, but cant figure out the build mechanic at all. Maybe I will have to play the tutorial if there is one. I just tried a skirmish and was totally lost.

It definitely has Kotor's RPG style, but it encourages a bit more flexibility with the combat in that you have the ability to switch between multiple styles of fighting mid attack. There's no focus on moveset combos, if that is your worry.

The main thing about the game is that the story felt rushed in all honesty. The beginning was awesome. But the end felt as if it was missing a chapter for some reason. Not to mention that the mini game was lame as hell. But for under 5 dollars, I think Jade Empire is worth a try.
