I personally couldn't locate a Dawn of War GOTY page on Steam.

Bought one @ $15. This personally guarantees that Homeworld 3 is coming out tomorrow. I hope.

GOTY is just the base game with 4 multiplayer maps. If you get the bundle don't add DOW GOTY to your library if you eventually plan to get Winter assault. Unless there is some sort of change to the layout of what they sell you will have to buy DOW Platinum to get WA, which means re-buying the base game.

I'm not too worried about re-buying the base game as this one was a freebie. It's just a bit annoying when I've got all the original CDs (bar the core game) sitting next to me...

Did any of you ever download the Harlequins mod for DoW? They, and the Legion of the Damned Space Marines, were always my favorite armies in 40k. I actually painted and sold a LotD army on eBay back in the day.

Not to me, all locked games (regardless of when you purchased) should be reserved for people that paid over average.
That encourages people to pay a bit more, knowing that they'll get something extra later.
But good for you, I think.

How? How would they know this? I bought the THQ Humble Bundle on day one (thanks to this thread on AT...would have never known about it otherwise). I bought it then based on the deal's face value then......I had no idea they would add games later (and give them to me). That ended up being a very cool bonus.
Fact is, a dollar paid to THQ last week is worth more than a dollar paid to THQ today. As such, it makes sense (to me anyway) to reward those consumers who purchased early.

Maybe he's poor? If not, then that is a pretty low rent move. I thought the same thing when I saw it but I don't pretend to know anyone's financial situation.

I dropped 10 on this right upfront (When I decided to pull the trigger). So yes. I am an overer LOL. (Bad play on the 1%er)
I do agree that "Add-ons" should be reserved for those that paid over price at the time they bought.
Look, maybe he is poor. Lets face it. Times are tough. I have several friends out of work long time. I have more that lost EVERYTHING in Sandy....
But its hard to feel sorry for him that he would have gotten what, 3 to 5 games for a buck? I forget what the original deal was, but I hope you get my point.
Paying a buck, one should be happy with what one got.

Not sure if my 'lockout' ended or if they just monitor it by email address but I was able to pay for six more (total of 12 lol) using the same paypal but having them sent to a different email today.

Because all previous humble bundles were like that?
Doesn't matter, my previous message was just an IMHO.

Whatever. For every person that's really that die-hard about the games being indie and whatnot, a dozen new people will come lured by awesome deals.

Humble bundle offers a great deal at a great price, and people find a reason to complain.
Take this comment for example,
Quote:
|
I feel that Humble Bundle is in some way tainted by this. Not only does THQ not need the help, the DRM and lack of Mac support go directly against everything I've percieved Humble Bundle to stand for.
|
THQ is in dire financial straits. This sale helps the company and gives the consumer some great games.
And then people complain?
Humanity is doomed. The comments being posted are an example of how spoiled society has become.

I purchased the bundle three different times for a total of $13. Two of those were for friends who have $0 to spend on games right now. The one purchase I made for myself, I only paid $1; that's because the only title in that bundle I didn't already own was "Tales of Valor". So I paid what I thought it was worth (which is the entire point of the Humble Bundle). I'm not a big fan of CoH, so I priced it accordingly.
It was either: a) Buy Tales of Valor on the Humble Store and give all the money to THQ, or b) Buy Tales of Valor on a Steam sale for $2.50 and a large fraction of that money goes to Valve, so THQ doesn't get much more than a dollar anyway.
Is that reasonable? Normally I'm not inclined to defend my purchasing decisions, but I hope this alleviates your "low rent" opinion of me.
As a side note, I paid full price for Metro 2033 and Saints Row 3 when they released (totaling $100).

They should have made a new domain named Shamless Bundle. Then maybe some people would be happy.

That is the same thing I am going to do, going to buy the bundle for someone who has no spare cash.

I wonder how many people complaining are used to buying their games for a couple of pennies, then THQ sets a $1 minimum price.

I only paid a dollar; that's one dollar more than they had before, especially considering I already owned half the games.

Despite being the first humble bundle to top 600,000 sales (let alone the current 800,000), it still hasn't made as much money as HIB V because of the paltry $5.70 average to HIB V's $8.53.

Aren't Windows users typically the lowest contributors when it comes to the Humble Bundle? I think Linux users typically pay $2 to $3 more per bundle.

well... the beat the average has been low throught the whole sale.
I guess it has to do with a lot of people owning at least 2 of the games already... and the bonuses have not been that great (very OLD games... good ones, but OLD).
And lately AMAZON has been making bundles with THQ games, like metro and red faction: armaggedon, so a lot of people have those games already. And now Free Metro, and when Darksiders 2 was out there was a 10k darksiders 1 giveaway

The "beat the average" price is set very early in the sale. Once around 20,000 people buy the bundle, the average won't move much at all because most people will just take the average, and round it up to the nearest dollar, or just beat the average by a penny.

1 hour 30 minutes left for anyone who procrastinated like me.
I gave THQ $10 + Humble $1, since I want to play Saints Row 4.
$0 to Child's Play, but I have that covered in the Off-Topic thread
