Thinking of a truck
Soooo, I am considering sell my 135i for something like an xterra. My GF has one, love it, so fun, 6 speed manual, 4x4 is awesome, etc.
Am I crazy? I never drove trucks (except my f150 when I was 16-18 haha and when I use my GF's truck).
I have a motorcycle now too, which will get a lot of use in the summer, so during the winters the truck will see a LOT of use.
The X also gets 21-23 MPG on the highway, which is nice, compared to most trucks/SUV's out there.

I couldn't ever have just a truck - I'm too addicted to fast cars. I love having one around, though.

Haha well if you don't think you'll miss your car, why not? I couldn't do it, though.

Can't just drive the GF's when you feel like it?

I'd be looking at a WRX unless you're actually going to be doing off-roading.

You could feel that way NOW. But what about when you're lumbering along in the truck and you suddenly wish you had a car?

I will have a yellow 07 xterrra for sale soon. I like the truck, but no need for a pickup and an x. The pickup is much more useful.
what year is the 135i? I have been thinking of replacing it with a smallish, fun car that gets better mileage than my pickup.

Trucks are better IMO. But I only consider USA made full size trucks as trucks. Nissan, Toyota, etc. is a toy IMO.

A truck can carry a couch. You're talking about suvs. No, I would not switch from a car to an suv. I would definitely consider a truck though, still regret selling mine even though I only used it for light hauling and golfing.

Raptor or bust!
If you're seriously considering dropping a 135 for an Xterra, then you must really want a truck/SUV badly. I say go for it, but definitely shop around before just jumping straight to an Xterra.

Does the weather make you want a truck?

I love Xterras I don't blame you for wanting one. I just could not justify the shitty gas mileage just for the sake of having a truck.
I'd also like a Hemi Ram, but it would cost probably 3x-4x what it costs me to drive my current car. It's just not worth it.

Trucks get old when you're just driving them on the street. I've had 2 Jeeps, and yes they are great offroad, but not onroad. Watch some Fifth Gear to remind you that cars are fun.

I had an xterra. One of my favorite vehicles. I never saw 20+ mpg, but depending on your driving conditions, I guess it might be possible.
I wouldn't hesitate to own one again, and I regret selling mine
edit:
and saying the Xterra wouldn't fun is just false. If you have the area to use it, it is a lot of fun. and after yesterday's snow, I would be having a lot of fun with it today

My truck works for me. I have enough firewood to last all winter and then some. Find trees needing to be taken down or people clearing land and load it up. Free energy source. Electric bill in the winter is dirt cheap. Have bought many items at garage or estate sales at pennies on the dollar of what it would cost new. Items like tool boxes, couches, etc.. Built my own storage shed recently for $400 in wood. Got a quote for $1800 for one to be built. Do my own landscaping. Hauling rock for flower beds, mulch, etc. I'd be losing money by not having a truck.

Have you considered a Jeep?
Depending on where you live, it could be alot of fun.
Best of luck.

2008, has a 4year/45k warranty I can still transfer too! Only 7 months into it!
What kinda X? offroad/s/x is it a manual?
I have been looking at trucks on this list
http://www.expeditionportal.com/reso...-vehicles.html
based on that list, wrangler has been an option, kind of ... the new 07 +
Three of us have been considering a 3-4 months trek down to Panama, so this would be the truck for that too.

Right now I have a ranger, for when it rains or I need to haul something. Honestly nowadays I would get better use out of a SUV.

I don't think I could go from something small, nimble, and fast like the 1 series to an Xterra. Sure it has fleeting moments of fun, but then you realize that the remaining 90% of the time it's a slow, lumbering, hard to park gas hog.
Buy a jeep for the weekends and have some topless fun in the summer and 4WD slogging ability in the winter and keep the BMW for everything inbetween.

Yeah, that is also an option, haha....I do not want 3 vehicles for 2 people though, seems wasteful!
+ I have my bike, and she has her scooter.
