The sort of good news is that my parents dell all in one system kept going out on them. Blank screen issue that is common to that machine. I already had replaced the lcd inverter hoping it would solve the problem. Long story short, nothing worked.
Realized they had an AM3 cpu in there and that I had a spare AM3 board and everything else necessary to get them back up and running.
Now I have another machine to borg for the race. Installed one of my spare GTS 450 cards for them and will get that in the race next week. I'm going to skip the cpu since it's only a dual core 2.8ghz and just isn't worth it.
and back on topic

Fired my 3 machines and 3 gpu's a few days ago. Put out just shy of 50,000 points yesterday.
Had 1,827,402 for December last year. Will need to get a little more firepower if I want to match those numbers.

OK, I am on F@H too:
4-core CPUs: 3
8-core CPUs: 5
GPUs: 11 (from one 9600 to NVIDIA 560 and 660Ti)
Lets see what that may produce ...

I forgot to say ... I am leaving my home for 5 days and the comps will have to run without much supervision - a kind of test. The grown-up kids are @home and will check on them once a day ...
Let's see how it works without baby-sitting and how much they will produce ...

Count me in. Switched over my q9400 today and when my 3770k finishes I'll switch it over. Does smp still give better ppd than running it along with a gpu(5850)? Thanks.

I think with the new client it runs smp and gpu pretty well. No need to run one or the other (IMO).

1. Really don't have any machines that are new enough to be cost effective to run in this project.
2. Don't like the way the points are weighted towards faster, newer computers. Points should be points despite the time need for a machine to complete the task.
3. My own little protest since they decided to discontinue support for the PS3.

Hopefully for Christmas I'll get a new PSU to power a GPU that requires a 6pin. Then maybe acquire a good GPU to crunch

Just upgraded my main pc from a 560TI to a 670. On the same work units, time per fold has dropped from 5min 16secs to 5mins 12secs. whoop-te-do

Hey. I'm in!
PCTC2 => paulnt04
I like the names this year, petrus. I don't know how much I can do at home this year, but I'm going to borg some work machines, since I need to stress test them anyways. I have full reign over what stress tests I run (usually Linpack/HPL and a simple "stress" program). I think December will be the month of F@H stress with both CPU and GPU clusters. So no, I will NOT get in trouble. And YES, my company will help further protein research this month.
I just have a quick question... what's the recommended amount of RAM per thread? I will be RAM-limited in most cases, not thread-limited. (Though, some may be the opposite... like 24 threads... but 256 GB of RAM...)

PCTC2, I may have to move you around - dependening on the production. I very much like the word "CPU and GPU clusters" and "24 threads" - which means a lot of bonus points.

I doubt I'll have regular production as the systems tend to come and go in a matter of days. It won't be like a few years ago when I had a bunch of computers going 24/7, getting 4.5 million that month. Right now I think we have an empty house with only 1 or 2 compute nodes in right now.
