this power supply is going on special, should I buy it or no?
$70 Canadian.

- ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V

- 80 PLUS SILVER Certified
I know best brand is Seasonic.

PCP&C used Seasonic for many years. Then they switched gears...
That's a Highpower unit, and it's pretty good. Got a good review at hardwaresecrets. For $70 Canadian, and a seven-year warranty, it looks like a really good deal.
For the Mk III, PCP&C went back to using Seasonic.

According to realhardtechx, the MK II 750W is a Sirtec unit. But yeah it's good, the only downside is that it's not modular.
Shephard, what components is it going to be powering?

it would power a 7950 or 7970 if I can get a darn deal here in Canada. also i5 3570k.
There is also
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W for $79.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16817139021
no free shipping and not including tax though not sure if it kills it.

You don't need a 750W unit for a 7950/7970 and i5-3570k no matter how crazy overclocks you do. You could do crossfire on a 750W unit. What's your motherboard, does it even support x8/x8 PCIe? If not, just get a decent 500-600W unit like this:
XFX 550W $60 ($50 AR) @ ncix
Of course, $70 is a very good price for the PCP&C mk II 750w, but it still would not make much sense to buy it for a PC that doesn't support x8/x8 crossfire. You would just get terrible idle efficiency and a jumble of cables with no use.

lehtv I don't even have the computer built yet that's why I am making so many topics.
but the mobo whichever I choose will have SLI/XFIRE capability.
Do you think the Corsair or or PC one is better.
if it's not worth it I have a 500 watt golden field power supply I can use.

Curious as to why you want SLI/Xfire? Do you play at a very high resolution? In most cases, if you're at 1080p or less, it makes more sense to pay less for non-SLI/Xfire compatible components, and spend the money on the best single GPU you can afford.
Looks like the PCP&C unit is $110 AR now, while the TX750 is $96 AR shipped. Neither PSU is worth it anymore. I'm trying to look for other SLI units that are affordable.. Well, XFX 750W XXX $75 AR is comparable to PCP&C MK II 750W plus it's semi-modular. But you lose two years of warranty.
As for the motherboard... If by chance you happen to live near a Canadacomputers store, they have Asrock Z77 Extreme3 on sale for $80 AR. Otherwise, Gigabyte Z77X-D3H $125 AR is decent
Still, you could instead get the XFX 550W for $50 AR and an Asrock Z77 Pro3 for $90 AR. That's around $50 that you could spend on a better single GPU

there are no Computer Stores anywhere near me. No ncix, no newegg, no memory, no tiger, no canada... totally sucks. I do it all online.
I don't think I would plan to crossfire because a single stronger gpu is better in my opinion unless a crazy deal arises.
But don't you think a good quality power supply is worth investing in? I can always bring it to the next future build. a 750watt seems like a good middle ground to me no?

Watts don't equal quality. It's better to have a suitably powerful PSU than an overly powerful PSU, and for any single GPU setup, 750W is definitely overly powerful. The XFX 550W can handle any single card that requires 6-pin + 8-pin connectors, or less. The XFX 750W unit is a bit more efficient, modular and not all that much more expensive though so if you want to get that one instead, go for it

is there a brand you trust?
Because to my knowledge Seasonic is the #1 build quality and backed with good warranty. I don't see many of them though.
Like I have a 500watt golden field in my other computer. but it has no cable sleeving and no 6pin connector. no plus certification either.

Almost all units from these are great: Seasonic, Corsair, Antec, XFX, PCP&C, Silverstone
And some units from these: OCZ, Enermax, Super Flower, Rosewill, Cooler Master, Thermaltake, Be Quiet!, Kingwin, NZXT
This is a very sketchy list.
Seasonic is mostly an OEM, it makes units for four of the five other brands in the first list

This may sound like four of these five are Seasonic. Keep in mind that all five have sold/currently sell models not made by Seasonic.
For example, most current PCP&C units are Seasonic. Most XFX, too. However, the PCP&C unit that you initially asked about is not Seasonic.
The other two sometimes use Seasonic...most of the time they don't. For example, Silverstone also currently uses Enhance, and has used Etasis, Fortron and FSP. Antec has been known to also use CWT, Delta and FSP.
When you find a model that interests you, google it. Reviews at JonnyGuru usually state which OEM manufactured the unit, and they'll also tell you just how good (or bad) it performs. Waiting around for our advice can sometimes be fatal...when you find a unit that is on sale for a great price, that price may not last long (like this deal). Quickly do your homework and add it to your cart.

Only if you interpret it that way, which would be logically the wrong way to intepret it. Basic reading comprehension

And don't get hung up on the OEM name. In the past, Fortron has made good PSUs, and so has FSP (Sparkle). It depends more on the particular model, so even more reason to read the reviews. Seasonic, FSP, etc., have all made clunkers too ...

I think comparing Seasonic to Fortron or FSP is a bit unfair. There are very few Seasonic releases that aren't good. Almost all their units from old to new and low end to high end are decent quality.
I agree with you though that there are definitely important differences between different units from a particular OEM, even Seasonic. Always check out a few reviews from reputable sites before buying (JonnyGuru, Hardwaresecrets, Techpowerup or Anandtech)

For an OP who didn't even know Seasonic made power supplies for other companies, it was a perfectly logical way to interpret it. That's why I clarified it for him.
By the way, the Mk II 750W wasn't made by Sirtec. AFAIK, Sirtec hasn't been involved with manufacturing PSUs for over four years now. I was originally gonna let that one go, but now...eh.

Do even the cheapest of the best you listed above use Seasonsic then?
I have never had a good power supply. I have had 5 die on me in about 10 years. Never have I had 1 transfer to a new build. I haven't upgrade in 6 years mind you!
I had Foxconn 400 watt - died in 4 months. Replaced with another Foxconn 500watt - died in 1 year 1 month. Had a Diablotek that died in 7 months. Some others I can't even remember.
I usually bought my power supplies local because I got impatient with no computer and couldn't choose one online.
right now I have a golden field 500watt. it has no pci express connector so I use a molex to 6 pin. no cable sleeving. really lame looking and it's probably crap. I got it for $40 and I know it's a Chinese brand.

A couple of years ago I bought an Antec NEO ECO 520W on sale for $40 USD shipped. It's a Seasonic. You wait for the deals, you try to leverage coupons or rebates, you jump when a hot deal comes by. A unit that was more expensive than another last month will suddenly be the less-expensive option this month. Patience pays off.
Wow. Diablotek. Sorry about that.

I disagree, that's not logical. Nothing implies Seasonic is the only OEM for the brands mentioned, even if you are new to the concepts of OEM and brand. As I said, basic reading comprehension

I just went with whatever realhardtechx listed, I figured they probably have the right info since all the specs they list have been correct when I've checked from other sources

As you have been made painfully well aware of in the past, my reading comprehension is much better than yours. And you watched several others, including Modz, confirm that fact. Insult me again, please.

I had never heard of that site before, and it took a few minutes for my eyes to readjust back to normal after viewing it. At least they have a website designer that does just as poor of a job as the information that they post.

ok well the most common power supply I see when I look at "show off ur pc" threads is Corsair.
I knew Antec was good too. I got an Antec Neo Eco for a friend. Really nice. 450watt and cable sleeving and Pci-Express connector! Not like my Golden Field!
so just watch for those top 5 brands any are good.

If there was a point to have been missed (since none was made), the point is moot. You used bad info from a fugly website.
