Grand YAGT: Top 3 Projectile Weapons for practical/SHTF use
Which projectile will you nominate for the top 3 in each category? You need not vote for all categories if you don't know anything about them. This is for practical use or SHTF, so keep in mind maintainability, ammo availability, accuracy, ergonomics. Basically which weapons do you want if you need to hunt or defend yourself. They must be readily available for purchase in 2012 and not be outlandish.

that's too big of a list for any practicality
Here you go.
1. Something accurate in a .22LR configuration Rifle/Pistol
2. A shotgun that can take heavy slugs
3. a scoped rifle w/ heavy bullet like a .30-06 or 7.62mm
Wondering which brand to choose? Pick any reputable brand and don't skimp on quality of course

Number 1: I love guns.
Number 2: A shitload of people here need to join a gun forum and stop spamming this one.
Also, My Glock 17 and my Mossberg would do most anything I need.

Are we living in a video game where I'm carrying around 18 weapons and 8,000 rounds of ammo for each of them?

S&W 617-10 (small game)
H&K P7M8 (carry/defense)
S&W 629 (wilderness defense)
AR15 in Noveske or LMT flavour probably. 223, 10.5" barrel + all the normal goodies. (I'd love to cheat and take multiple uppers but I'll resist) (hunting/defence)
PGWDTI Timberwolf Tactical Folder in 338LM (long range hunting/possible defence)
Sako 85 finnlight .308 (hunting)
Benelli M2
Remington 870P 14" bbl
AA 12
I don't know much about bows and such so I'll bow out there.

Handgun:
Quality 9mm(Glock, Smith M&P, Sig, H&K, etc)
-Powerful enough to get the job done, most readily available service caliber, easy to shoot with light recoil
Shotgun
Quality 12ga pump, Remington 870 is far and away my pick
Hey, it's a shotgun. 12ga is more than a manstopper and widely available
Rifle
Lots of personal preference on this one. AR15 or Ak47 or .22
AK47 is very powerful with lots of penetration, more difficult carry a lot of ammo
.22 is not very powerful but will still kill and would be perfect for hunting small game in a SHTF situation. Very very easy to carry a ton of ammo which is dirt cheap and very plentiful
AR15: in between the two. Not quite as powerful as an AK47 but will still kill a man easily. Ammo is smaller and easier to carry larger quantities than an AK47. Ammo is plentiful but probably more expensive than AK ammo. Any would be a good choice.
