iTunes not seeing iPhone
I'm having trouble getting my iphone 4s to load in itunes.
I am still running ios 5 on my phone, and I'm running Windows 7 on my computer.
I have tried the following things so far:
- Updated iTunes
- Restarted Computer
- Reinstalled iTunes
- Charged my phone
- Tried plugging my phone into each of my 3 USB ports
- Restarted my phone
- Turned off Windows firewall (I don't think anything else would be interfering with the connection since I'm on a relatively new install of Windows)
I just wanna load my fricking jake owen tunes for my commute tomorrow.
And ideas on what the problem could be?

might be a problem with your user account! try making another user (with full admin privileges), open itunes and see if your iphone is recognized.

Ok, so you plug in the phone and it doesn't get detected by iTunes? Does Windows detect it? Do have a different USB cable to try (any chance it is a cheap cable?)

Found my answer here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
Quote:
- Right-click the Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, or Apple iPod entry in Device Manager and choose Update Driver from the shortcut menu.
- Click "Browse my computer for driver software."
- Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
- Click the Have Disk button. (If the Have Disk option is not present, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device if listed, and click next. The Have Disk button should then appear.)
- In the "Install from Disk" dialog, click the Browse button.
- Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
C Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Note: If using a 64-bit version of Windows, this folder may be stored in C Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
- Double-click the "usbaapl.inf" file which is listed in this folder. (This file will be called "usbaapl64.inf" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows).
- Click OK in the "Install from Disk" dialog.
- Click Next and finish the driver-installation steps. Open iTunes to verify that the device is recognized properly.

To TheStu: Nope, it's the cable that came with the phone.
Anywho, screw apple. I have to erase my iphone if I want to add the new songs I purchased.

I was about to recommend you uninstall the driver and let it reinstall itself.

How come? Are you on a different computer from what you have synced to in the past?

No, I bought an SSD and haven't synced since reinstalling Windows. Of course nothing is on this computer atm since it's a new install so erasing my phone's contents would make me have to start my desktop to find all my music. Blah. I also don't want to have to redownload all my apps after erasing my phone.

Move iTunes folder from old computer (located in C: \Users\xxxxxxx\Music) to the new computer.
Hold the SHIFT key while starting iTunes on the new computer, and point to your old library you just copied over.
Apps are in that folder, and you won't have to clear the iPhone.

Thanks, I'll give that a try when I get around to it. I've downloaded the Amazon cloud player app for the time being.
