SSD Deals
Thought I would start a thread on SSD deals for Black Friday. Haven't seen many good deals actually, the best one I've seen so far is Microcenter has this Intel 330 series 180 GB for $99:
http://www.microcenter.com/product/3...ate_Drive_(SSD)
What do people think of that deal? Anyone else see good SSD deals?

I totally agree the black Friday SSD deals are pretty awful to say the least.
Over the past month there have been way better deals on the Samsung 830, Crucial M4, Vertex 3 & 4 an the Kingston Hyper X.
Hopefully Cyber Monday will bring about some better deals.

Don't expect any fire sales. With the 830 all but cleared off the shelf, the 840 self destructing at the moment, and OCZ imploding there is no impetus for big discounts by anyone. This 256GB 830 @ $168 or this 240GB Neutron @ $140 is as good as we'll likely see for a first rate ssd. Plenty of 2nd and 3rd tier drive sales going on if you're cash strapped and can live with a concession or two. Like the 256 Agility 4 @ $135 AR.

Actually I just bought this Intel 330 180GB drive from Tiger Direct:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...JfaqvTHhXF725A
Worked out like this:
$120 price - 5% shop discover cash back - 5% discover card online shopping = $108 - $30 rebate is $78 final price.
Nice.

That looks impressive. I'm an SSD noob, yet to get one, deal with one, could really use 3 or 4. Want to get one and get my feet wet. The link above now says: Sold Out Online
Looks like I've missed the boat on a lot of these BF specials. I've never got any of them, didn't' realize you have to check things out BEFORE TG or be left in the dust. All the deals I've checked out are sold out and unavailable for in store pickup. Oh well...

Did the similar deal with the 240 GB model.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...srkey=I69-7034
159.99 - 5% - another 5% =143.99 - 30.00 MIR = 113.99 ($0.47/GB)

What about the Kingston Hyper X 128gb for $79.99 or 64gb for $49.99 deals at Staples, online is sold out but the local in store still has both. I'm about to go pick up one of those (probably the 128gb), any opinions on those?

i'd stick to the 830 if you want it to last a long time. check out xtremesystems 34nm versus huge thread on longevity. only a few drives go the distance.

Ebay's got the Samsung 840 250GB for $139.99. Good/Bad/Average?

They're also selling the SanDisk Extreme 240 for $139, but I decided the minor stuff (included 2.5" to 3.5" bracket, free Intel migration software) made the Intel 330 more attractive. Both are Sandforce 6 GB/s drives. I'd rather have a Samsung 830, but the price difference felt worth accepting Sandforce.

Tiger Direct is now much more reliable than before (after a lawsuit) and Intel rebates are usually reliable. I've gotten multiple $120 rebates on Intel SSDs, plus recently got a Logitech C260 webcam from Tiger Direct for free after $25 rebate that took 4 weeks to show up (pre-paid card). No hassles with any of those.
Only rebate hassles lately are with Biostar and Xigmatek, and I'm not the only one. Xigmatek came through, but only after contacting them. Biostar's online thing still says "received and approved for payment" after a year, but still not paid and nobody responds.

A fair point - I trust Intel a lot farther than, say, MSI or DataColor, the companies that most memorably stiffed me on rebates. Tiger Direct I trust less. I went to check the details of the rebate, and it's not visible anymore, since the 240GB Intel 330 is now sold out, so I'm not sure if it's Tiger Direct or Intel sponsoring it. I'm guessing Tiger since the same rebate isn't available at Amazon.

Over the years I've had good luck with rebates with one exception, and I think it was Pepsi or Coke. MIR's make me nervous, very nervous, and I always follow the instructions meticulously, neurotically is the feeling, but I get my money (usually a check in the mail). Still, I don't shy away from them. But the price on that 180GB SSD is way stiff.

Link worked fine for me. Shows sold out though so it doesn't matter anyhow I guess.
I mentioned this in a different thread, and apologies if it isn't ultimately that hot, but just in case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...&SID=u00000687
Samsung 840 (not Pro), 250GB, $180 - 12% w/ free shipping = $158 or so. Tack on the free Far Cry 3 and it seems like a decent deal. I'm planning on selling my Far Cry 3 coupon (I don't game), so optimistically I am out what about $120 or so for this? Seems decent.

Link still works fine for me.
Too bad that's OOS but that 180GB model 330 came back in stock earlier this morning and it's actually cheaper per GB than the 240 model.
0.43/GB vs 0.47/GB

I just bought the 180GB 45 minutes ago, it's in stock. I don't have a Discover card, so can't get the 5% discounts, it came to $119, presumably I'll get a $30 rebate but I'm having trouble with the rebate links. I don't have the UPC yet, so I can't send it in anyway, hopefully I'll be able to hit the link where I print the forms. From 2 different computers I get:
waiting for 4myrebate.com .....
Maybe they are overloaded with hits on their server?
This will be my first SSD. I could really use 3. I tried to buy 2 (it says the rebate has limit of 2/household or business) but Tigerdirect has a maximum of one for this item.

Here's an active link. It's a little slow in downloading.
http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/...779%20(US).pdf
Yesterday I was going to get two of the 180GB 330's and it allowed me to put two in the cart. By the time I got to the checkout, they were OOS.
That's the reason I went to the 240GB model. But that one only allowed one rebate to be submitted so I bought just one.

That I can hit, but it says there:
3. Print the rebate application at http://www.4myrebate.com/?oc=TD-7779
That's the place I can't hit. My browser (FF) waits and waits for a response that never comes. I cannot hit 4myrebate.com I have no idea why, whether it's something on my end or the site. I suspect it's the site. None of my computers get there.
I get interminable "waiting for www.4myrebate.com..." It's criminal is what it is!
