Default Best short workout at home?

I'm busy all the time. Whats a really simple home workout I can do? Burpees? Squat jumps and pushups? I run when I have time.

Look into insanity. It's really a terrific workout. I'm did a few sessions and I was drenched after each workout. Each session is about 45 minutes long. I would say about 10 minutes or so goes to stretching exercise and rest in between sets. It does a good job of giving you a full body workout without using any equipment whatsoever.

I really would have loved to stick with it but it was way too painful on my previously fractured foot w/ torn ligaments.

I would recommend Insanity as well. This is my last week of it actually. As already mentioned, 1st month is like 45 minutes and then the 2nd month is harder at 55 minutes to an hour. It's a great workout, although there's practically no pulling type exercises. It's great if you don't want to think about what to do next or plan.... Just follow, sweat, and increase your cardio.

I wouldn't exactly call 45min quick. Overall, I think Insanity requires a lot more building-up than it suggests. I think utilizing body weight movements in a circuit-like fashion is usually pretty effective and fast. For example:

5 rounds of:
10 burpees
20 air squats
5 pull-ups

Probably won't take you more than 15min to complete, but you work in upper body pushing, upper body pulling, lower body, plyometrics a bit, etc. I've always fancied thought kinds of workouts when I'm low on time. Still gotta warm up beforehand (at least 5min) though.

I've been doing a 30 min resistance band workout 4 times a week for a couple of months now using the routines from liveexercise.com. I've seen others around the internet which are around 20 minutes.

I work out at home since two years. The results are nearly the same like in the gym. And I love burpees, air squats, deadlifts, hip raises, lunges and curls! I found a site, which helps me to stay fit with at-home exercises. I bought a barbell and dumbbells with weight. The funny thing is, that it's possible to train with towels. Biceps curl with a towel. It works!

I'm sad that scooby is shutting his youtube channel. It helped me, too.

Running "when you have time" is not enough. If you want to stay in shape, and I'm not talking about "muscular physique" but just good shape, you MUST do cardio and eat LESS. There are no exceptions, and no alternatives. In fact, if you have very limited time, it's better to just do cardio and nothing else. That would be much better than lifting weights and not doing cardio.

Again, since you said you have limited time, assuming you will do INTENSIVE cardio at least 30 minutes 4 days a week (as in coming back dog tired, shirt soaking wet) you can just limit yourself to two exercises. Pushups and pullups.

Really, there's no need for you to concern yourself with anything else. With limited time, it's better to really focus on two exercises than to spread out into many different ones. But when you do pushups and pullups, we are not talking "just do 3 sets of 10-12 pushups and you are done...". We are talking 10 sets of 8 pushups and 10 sets of 8 pullups on alternating days to start with, and increasing the number of reps to 10 per set. When you can do a good, solid 10-15 pullups, and 50 pushups in ONE set, going all the way up and all the way down, slowly, with good form, and absolutely no struggling on the way up, I'd say you're doing quite well. At least I'd say that about myself if I could do it. ; )


Off course if you're real skinny, you can just throw my advice about cardio out the window. But I'm assuming this is not the case.

I have been exercising from last year exercising at home is really better that gym,one should maintain proper diet with healthy and fresh food.

As someone who just finished his morning downset of 11 burpees (set of 11, set of 10, set of 9, etc.) and is now debating between throwing up or suicide, you may want to give em a try.

I work out 6 days/week at home. 3 days with free weights/bench, 3 days of burpees. Works ok for me thus far.
