Partial patch notes from yesterday:

My personal "It's a mistake" notes in bold.

Weapons:

New weapons are now available for certifications.
- Sniper Rifles now have additional attachments.
- The grenade warning indicator radius has been increased slightly.
- The Strong Arm and Pitcher certifications have been removed.
- Explosives and mines will now be persistent even when a class is changed.
- Grenades should now explode even after death.
- The MANA Turret certifications are now available. Each rank will decrease overheat time.

Classes:
- Resist Shield now has a movement penalty when active.
- The MAX certifications trees have been renamed. Ammo storage Canisters is now under utilities.
- MAX Kinetic Armor will now only resist small arms fire.
- Heavy Assault AA weapons now do less damage. [/b]This was stupid. Aircraft already have countermeasures and are now getting increased resistances across the board? Too much.[/b]

World:
A number of facilities have additional defenses such as turrets, gates, cover, and more restrictive vehicle access added to them.

Ownership of certain facilities will provide bonuses to empires on each continent:
- Biolab - Ownership of a biolab will provide health regeneration.
- Tech Plant - A Tech Plant is now required to spawn the Main Battle Tank (Vanguard, Prowler, Magrider). God, I hope this doesn't apply to the Warp Gate area. If so, situations like last night (where the NC had the entire continent locked down and basically spawn camped the warp gates) will be ridiculously common and super unfun.
- Amp Station - An Amp station reduces the time to overheat Phalanx turrets.

Capturing all contested territories in a continent will provide a temporary bonus to the controlling empire:
- Indar - Reduction of cost for items purchased with Infantry resources.
- Esamir - Reduction of cost for vehicles purchased with mechanized resources.
- Amerish - Reduction of cost for aircraft purchased with aerospace resources.

Capture mechanics have changed. Please see this thread for specifics on Tug of War capture.

Vehicles:
- Landing should be improved for aircraft with landing gear, it should be much easier to land and take no damage.
- Skyguard magazine size has been increased from 40 to 50.
- The recoil on the 120mm Prowler cannons has been reduced.

Sunderer:
- AMS terminals now work on the sides. Terminals have been removed from the back.
Visuals have been added for AMS and Ammo attachments.

Galaxy:
- The Galaxy is now more resistant to Flak damage. This was unneeded.

Liberator:
- The resistance to most damage has been increased. [/b]The liberator was fucking insanely tough to begin with. This was DEFINITELY not needed.[/b]
- The cone of the fire on the Tank Buster Cannon has been improved.
- The 105mm cannon has increased damage, projectile speed, and a lower reload time.
- The projectile speed of the 150mm cannon has been increased.
- The Shredder has increased damage.

Fighters:
- Air to Air missiles now have increased damage and lock on range.
- Rotary cannons now do less damage. Good, but combined with the other changes again a bit too much.
- Rocket Pods now have reduced damage and increased reload speed. Too much nerf? Rockets never did "too much damage" unless you let an aircraft sit there unabated and reload with impunity.
- Fighters are now more resistant to aircraft machines guns. Again, way too much. Pilots will be running rampant, even more than they already are.

My two big questions:

Is it as laggy as PS1 was?
Are there hitboxes? Or does it still take 2 full clips of ammo to the face to kill a player?

Hitboxes are fine and lag isn't an issue for me. Does appear there may be a clientside bug that allows certain people to "jerk" sideways quickly, but its very rare to run into (I suspect it's an exploit)

Beta is up 24/7 now until the 16th, when it ends. I believe the game is outstanding - but it's best when you get in an organized platoon.

Absolutely not the same. Headshots can and often do 1- or 2-shot people. Body shots, depending on the weapon, can easily absorb an entire clip or more. You even get bonus XP for headshot kills.

Even Planetside 1 had multiple hitboxes.

Not sure if it's placebo, but starting to really feel the performance improvements now. Lab fights are much more tolerable on my Phenom II X4 940/ 6850 CF setup (created a custom profile, AFR-friendly, for the time being).

Well, we could always have three separate outfits.

Haven't needed to rebind since my keys were set from many patches ago, so can't comment on that aspect.

Steam, eh? WTG. Great times ahead.

MMO experience is irrelevant in this game, for the most part. Each continent plays like a huge BF match, whereby one simply gets points for doing stuff. Rack up enough points, "purchase" sidegrades/ new weapons, rinse, repeat.

Moogoo: Unless I'm experiencing major packet loss, I haven't had any issues with the hitboxes. Are you referring to the "ADADADA" strafing during close range combat? Are you leading all of your shots (including accounting for gravity), considering the guns actually have bullet trajectory and aren't hitscan?

No console, AFAIK.

i do lead my shots. sometimes you'll shoot someone nothing happens for a second and then they die. people disappear for half a second at long range at times while running. (not talking about cloaking). It's like someone that's warping around like in cs.

i hate how there will be guys driving around in apcs and they'll drive right past you when there's 11 slots empty. When can i start driving vehicles around?

From the beginning? You only need resources to obtain vehicles, no skills/certs needed. The ATV is super cheap.

Liberators have WAY too much armor. Period. Either that or they need to unnerf ground AA.

Something to be said when 3 Burster MAXes and a couple of heavies with AA rockets can go all out on a Liberator and it can still get out alive.

Yes. You'll passively earn resource points depending on how much territory your faction control on the continent. Then just go up to a station (they'll have a hologram of your MBT, air vehicle, galaxy ,etc) to purchase.

Got some quick questions for you guys.

1) Just built a new PC but I'm not sure if it will handle this game, and after playing the first one on a Dell Dimension 2100 I know how bad that can be with this game in big battles. Here are my basics:

2) Are any of those codes above still good?

3) When is this game going to release?

I loved the first one whenever I could get it to not stutter on my crappy old PC so I expect this should be a good game as well.

If I'm correct, the 640 looks to be a slight upgrade over a GTX460? I run the game fine on mostly high settings, but my GPU is definitely fully cranked at all times in game.

The game releases on the 20th.

edit: I was wrong. The 640 looks like it actually performs worse than my 460. So you'll probably need to play @ 1680x1050 with some more settings at medium than I do to keep a playable FPS. It'll work, just not with all the eye candy. If I were you I'd think about returning that card and getting something for another $20-30 that will give you better results.
